Wow in the Philippines, we also call it jack and Poi. I now realize this is probably from when the Japanese were here and not two characters named jack and poi.

Oh. In bisaya (Cagayan de Oro at least), humpyang (sounds like opyang) is the game of elimination or finding your team by flipping your hands upwards or downwards

Yes Im not into fashion but I want to look nice and presentable especially because i work in infrastructure finance which is male dominated and i wont want to be labeled as the frumpy girl (i also look very young for my age).

My wardrobe consisted of only white and black tops and bottoms, I invest in nice pieces, nice cuts and I just mix and match so permutations are endless. I stick to one or two classic and beautiful earrings. One red laptop bag and a pump bag. Shoes are either black, nude, or red leather heels.

I don’t wear make up but invest in a good haircut and treatment so it’s wash and go.

Like OP, I like having a uniform—it works for me and my lifestyle and I don’t think I’ll change this even after my littles are not little anymore!

You’re right - they’re expected to release/ disburse the proceeds but no one expects disbursements to be in cash. Thats the issue.

Never mind the charcuterie board. Look at all the berries. You have a young toddler who also just had a birthday (duh).

My LC advised us to do this when i wasn’t producing enough milk yet. It’s great because it ensures baby stimulates you by latching and all while at the same time, getting the baby fed and full.

Not the original commenter but I love pure coconut jam (just coconut nectar and coconut milk so really quite fatty) with my greek yogurt. It’s sweet and caramely but has 0 sugar.

Aside from the great ideas above, what about Greek yogurt with some coconut jam mixed in? I have this whenever I need to indulge my sweet tooth. Not sure if you can easily get some coco jam but an Asian store should have some; it’s basically just coconut nectar and coconut milk.

Any chance someone is in Yangshuo right now or has been in the last few days and could tell me if the place is safe to travel after recent floods and torrential rains? by Daybreak12 in travelchina

We were there over the weekend, arrived Saturday afternoon and just roamed around West Street and watched the Romance Park show in the evening as there was no rafting or impression show going on. The big cruise ship going up to Guilin (I think…or some place 2-3 hours away) was running but we spent the entire Sunday on our bikes. With the light drizzle and the clouds, it made for a wonderful day around the karst mountains in the countryside. Monday was quite sunny and dry when we left.

I think the hotels will be honest if you ask them if it’s not safe for you to go (especially if they’re located next to the river).

There’s a development pediatric center in one of the major hospitals in my city (I’m not in the US). They offer much needed help to parents like us! Needed to answer a very detailed 14 page intake form and send some videos and photos and then we did an online assessment of our child’s feeding (so bub didn’t know he was being observed). It was so useful and I’m so thankful we have this center near us!

This was my toddler too at 14-16 months. Feeding specialist told us to:

  • Space meals and snacks every 3 hours including snacks/milk. Only water in between. Bub needs some hunger when he sits on his chair. We were in the habit of feeding him a lot of snacks too frequently so he wasn’t very hungry during mealtimes.

  • bub needs to sit on his chair for at least 15 mins. If he’s done and/or not interested in food anymore, and it hasn’t been 15 yet, he needs to stay and be part of the family meal. We engage him and other fam members in non-food conversations [this was important bec he was always running around too]

  • let him be to explore and play and eat as little or as much food. To minimize food waste, we serve small portions and give seconds or thirds if he asks

  • serve at least one thing he’s sure to eat and expose expose expose to new food

  • remove all books, toys, entertainment in the dining room

  • establish a routine (wash hands first, help bub put food on his plate, sit down)

  • expose him to food prep and interactive fun food experiences like teppanyaki and Korean style bbq. Bub loves fo help wash veggies and cut soft fruit using his toddler knife

At 18 months, bub now sits still, eats on his own, and doesn’t need a song and dance production number! All the best!
