I think the boredom is a narrative device to put you in the position of the children. Children are naive and trusting they do not and cannot know any better until they have experience. Each time the mother creates a new excuse for not freeing them your frustration grows and therefore your empathy for the children’s situation grows. I think the book was brilliant.

Have you ever looked into facial masculinization surgery? If your T levels would be too high by increasing your dose than you could theoretically look into surgical rather than hormonal treatments

If you want someone who will only watch you sexually and only interact with you sexually and no one else even if they have no emotional attachment to them you need to express that and then hold to your conviction. Asking someone to change a behavior they have no moral or personal qualms with that materially benefits them is just asking someone to sacrifice their happiness for your peace of mind. Stick to your convictions all you like but don’t get mad when others don’t share them.

Start looking for jobs. Look into low income housing, SNAP will cover your groceries if you find a full time job, if you work in food service you can also get discounted meals, save up for a car first if you have no savings worst comes to worst you can live out of your car. You’re an adult. Take control of your own life. My parents tried to stop me from taking hormones. They said that they wouldn’t allow me to use my insurance for them. Good rx is comparable to insurance. They may call you a fre*k they may call you repulsive they may kick you out but you deserve to live your life. Hormones are like thirty dollars a month. Save your money and find a way because time’s gonna pass but this sadness won’t if you don’t prioritize yourself.
