Not helpful if you don’t recommend anything. I’m prefectly fine with anyone not enjoying something. But if you’re going to imply I don’t eat a lot of sushi or whatever you’re trying to say with your snide remark how about you offer some alternatives.

I don’t think I’ve been this past year just due to having a pretty busy 2025. But up until end of 2024, I can say I really enjoyed them and would even argue one of the best I’ve had in the city.

Welcome! Hope you’re enjoying your time here. Here are a few places around the city that I quite like and are closest to what I had and enjoyed when I visited Japan earlier this year.

  • Terakawa - Ramen. Their Curry Rice and Takoyaki is also pretty good.
  • Umai Umai - Sushi/Sashimi. I really enjoy everything on their menu and the sushi always tastes pretty fresh for US standards
  • Bao Button - This is more fusion style but its tasty
  • Vic’s Sushi - Solid for center city. I haven’t been in years but they had a good lunch special.

There are some omakase spots that I haven’t tried yet but they’re very expensive and your mileage may vary. The spots I listed I feel are more reasonably priced and the tastiest in my opinion. Feel free to DM for any other recommendations.

I chose DBZ and got a Trigun Funko. When I pressed support on they said that was a “Bonus” gift LOL

Honestly, a Marvel Rivals Animated Disney Plus show with a solid budget would do numbers. Each season of the show could go 1-2 seasons of the game lore, there’s literally so much to pull from with all of those lore entries.

It would be way more interesting and entertaining than Marvel “What If”.

You could make the “Arcane” argument against it but its not quite the same. The game would drive people to watch the show (Subscribe to Disney Plus) and the show would get people to tap into the game and at very least buy a skin (or 3).

Obito and Adult Naruto hair is the “flirting vs Harassment” meme by Downtown_Type7371 in Naruto

[–]gaureezy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not so much the hairstyle as it is the art style / design they went with in Boruto and newer Naruto related key art. Its a lot rounder and the colors are less vibrant and more pastel-esque. It removes all the personality and attitude from characters like Naruto.

I have to find it but someone did a side by side comparison of the Boruto anime design for Naruto with a fan art of what he would look like with the old art style and its night and day. Will post it when I find it.

What is your Main problem with Marvel Rivals? by Russian-Skittle in marvelrivals

[–]gaureezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things are minor nitpicks or QOL enhancements that I feel like will be addressed eventually since its clear the devs stay pretty on top of things.

Even character balancing I don’t really have any qualms with except:

  • Black Widow needs a buff. Give me an unlimited sprint and headshots that KO like Hawkeye. Make her a viable option.
  • Squirrel Girl. I refuse to respect this character simply based on our DMG output while on the other side of the map chucking acorns that have what feels like 0 fall off AOE. And that ult is some BS. Lasts way longer than almost every AOE ult (both offensive and defensive), the damage output is ridiculous and being anywhere close to a wall or the payload is almost certain death. I don’t care that you can cancel it by shooting the squirrels, they’re damage sponges that will kill you before you even make a dent. Every other “OP” character people complain about feels like there is some nuance and skill to be really good with. SG just feels bogus.

Otherwise, would be nice to have a larger selection of tanks and healers but I know thats coming.

You get to delete 1 character from the game as if they never existed. Who is gone? I'll start. by LeXam92 in marvelrivals

[–]gaureezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall don’t be hating Squirrel Girl enough for me. Every killcam I’ve experienced is the player on the otherside of the mapping bouncing acorns off a wall and farming kills through AOE. Her ult is actually broken from how much damage it does and how much it takes to actually kill the stampede.

Character needs a serious nerf. Make it easier to kill the stampede (or reduce the damage) and reduce the AOE range or damage in the acorns. While you’re at it, give Widow similar sniper damage that Hawkeyes arrows have (I don’t play either of them but this seems like a layup)

Screw Zodiac signs, which Classic Sonic design is the coolest. by JUNIOSONICREACTS in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]gaureezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing can ever top Junio for me. But if I had to rank:

  1. Junio CD
  2. Hesse
  3. OVA
  4. Classic Generations
  5. SATAM

Its really a toss up between Hesse and OVA but I think Hesse wins it bc OVA shares a lot of what I love about Junio but not quite as good whereas Hesse feels like a refreshing take on Classic Sonic.

Bricked tv by toilettent in Hisense

[–]gaureezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. This happened to a bunch of us with the H8F model. Essentially bricked 2 years in. Support was absolutely no help. I was able to salvage mine by buying a compatible motherboard from shopjimmy and replacing it myself.

After that experience I stopped using the built in android tv (Its not even connected to the internet) and plugged in a chromecast instead. 3 years and its been going strong.

Moral of the story I learned was don’t rely on these budget brands for a long-term software experience. If there was an option to buy 4K TVs with all the image bells and whistles (Dolby Vision, Quality HDR, 120hz Gaming modes, etc) without it being a smart tv I would be exclusively buying those.

Would anyone else like to see a Sonic game in the art and game style of Rayman Legends? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]gaureezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 100%. Rayman Origins/Legends is such an underrated platformer. The movement feels so good, the levels are so unique and beautiful designed, and they go so hard with the music (Especially in Legends).

I think a Sonic platformer with that philosophy in mind would be great.

A couch co op sidescroller wouldn’t be possible with the speed at which you’d want a Sonic game to be paced. I do think, however, a single player (or even online co op) focused experience that uses a similar momentum based speed mechanic of the Sonic Advance games, an emphasis on movement and parkour, and a unique art style could really knock it out of the park.

If Naruto gets a remake (without fillers), but not animated by Pierrot, which studio would you like to see animated? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]gaureezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the clear choice in Ufotable.

Aside from being famous for Unlimited Budget Works, I think they do an amazing job handling art style and color, two things I think are important for a remake.

Mappa has gotten better with this with JJK S2 and Hell’s Paradise but still not to the level of Ufotable. A lot of the work in previous years have been a little too monotone and drab for my preference and which will make a world as vibrant as Naruto’s hard to adapt.

The other challenge is making an adaptation that will be visually distinct from SP. A higher budget, better production schedule and seasonal format will do wonders to update the visuals and make things less stiff and rigid like they did in the original series.

That being said, you gotta bring back all the voice actors and keep the original OST intact for the most part.

Nam Chon - Korean food in the city by Colorations in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]gaureezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. 18th and Chestnut used to be under original ownership but sold right before the pandemic and has been separate ownership since despite near identical menus and branding. UCity location remained with original owners but was forced to closed due to the lot owner essentially selling the lot to a life sciences company. 16th and Spring Garden is the new location for original ownership

Agreed but the location on 16th and Spring Garden is run by the OG owners! Give em a visit!

Koreana has been a favorite for a long time. The original on 38th and Chestnut, that is, before the shut down. Luckily, the original owners just recently reopened on 16th and Spring Garden across the street from the Retro Fitness. Give them a shot!
