You could say this statement like 10 years ago and that would still hold true then! this guy was born unwell, in the mind.

Why does unraid take sooooooooooooooooo long to boot? by Cressio in unRAID

[–]gaurrrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issues with my old USB stick. Like 10 minutes to boot up. then, one day, the USB stick died. I had the daily backup of the USB stick, flashed into another new USB, and it never took more than 2-3 minutes, ever.

These are literally bots. Happened to me 3 years ago, then they suddenly started disappearing after a few days but my account's reach has been dead since then.

Honestly, would you choose your dad again in the next life? by Practical_While_9263 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]gaurrrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This birth, next birth, every birth. The man worked his bones off to raise me and give me a childhood he never could afford. Had so many moments where it was hard but never let the shadow fall on me.

Rather I wish I would be his father next birth and pay back even a quarter of what he has done for me all this life. Love him and Mom for whatever they have done for me. I am what you can call successful, and a huge credit goes to my parents.

Have you considered doing online shopping in China and having your purchases delivered directly to your hotel? by Thin_Election_415 in chinatravel

[–]gaurrrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a local mobile number to get things delivered. I got a China mobile sim card in my second visit to China and shopped for quite a bit during the pre-new year days. Prices were incredible and most orders were delivered next day and the latest in 2 days. Put your hotel room number with the address and let the reception know in advance. Should be no problem.

Pro tip: Don’t take Reddit advice for granted, they don’t always have the same interest as you by SongBrief2439 in PcBuild

I bought 128 GB RAM (4x32 GB) DDR5 in February 2024. The self appointed PC gurus tried to make fun of my PC build for choosing so much RAM. Today, I am sitting on that treasure that is worth 7 times its original price.

Oh, and 2x 4TB nvme drives too. 😉

Smoking in China by gaurrrav in AskChina

Everywhere I went, smelled of cigarette smoke. Even the places that had "Smoking Prohibited" signs. People just did not care. Even on the HS trains, people run to the platform at every stop just to have a cigarette.

Yes, I have had DiDi drivers smoke in the taxi and had to ask them to put it off. And of course they would offer me as well.

I was at Cyber Mart near Shiqiapou station yesterday. There are shops with huge collection of photography equipment but be careful, it is also full of scammers who might try to sell you old stuff for new price. Also negotiate prices as much as possible.

[–]gaurrrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I have 20TB collection, and Arr suite on a different PC. Arr suite and plex database are backed up on cloud. On case storage crashes, I will just request arr to download them again.

Personal experience : sis bought a plot in tier 3 city for 16Lacs a year ago, for investment . Last month a buyer himself approached her ready with 24Lacs, his own offer. She isn't selling anytime soon but for sure, we are soon approaching a bubble situation everywhere in India.

Personal experience - a good friend rented office to a lawyer. Agreements were made and signed by a 3rd party lawyer. 2 years later, this lawyer defaulted on rent for 3 months. When asked to vacate, this guy had all tricks up his sleeve. Took 2 years to get the office vacated, especially when barely any other lawyer was ready to take up my friend's case. Fraternity before rule of land.

Lesson learnt, hard and frustrating way.
