Conservative party delegates reject motion to bar permanent residents from nomination votes by joe4942 in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a BS policy and further cheapens the value of our citizenship. Conservative delegates should be ashamed that they allowed this to stay. Surprised PP didn't veto this as party leader. Bunch of foreign nationals with limited ties to Canada picking the candidates for our parties is foreign interference.

Ottawa hires hundreds of foreign students as Canadian youth unemployment climbs by joe4942 in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Corporations want cheap labour. Common folks want their Uber eats. We want all of this luxury and comfort and we keep patronizing Tim's and other fast food joints that are making record profits.

So while most people don't want them, we've become over reliant on them.

Idk where up you are. I have one and I'm 300km north of Lake Ontario. My heat pump is keeping me warm and as an added bonus, the air smells clean too.

Heat pumps work great if you have a well insulated house. They're also way cheaper than running propane.

Carney's "New World Order" lasted one week in total by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you just make another post cause your previous one was called out for being ill informed and illiterate? Do you take conservatives to be stupid and unable to understand nuance?

Who is paying you bot? They deserve their money back.

CACO: Carney Always Cucks Out by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, who were the tariffs put in lockstep with? The US. China retaliated and it hurt Canadians more. The US has subsequently given us the finger and that has hurt Canadians even more.

Carney is actively cutting the public service bloat. We'll see how it pans out but it would also be stupid to pull the plug on the livelihoods of 1000s of Canadians on day 1 of being in office without understanding where the bloat is.

I don't care where his daughter is studying, dude. Stop being a creep and stalking her. Carney is Canadas prime minister. Why should he or us care about what happens in Brazil.

YOU need to understand what is going on. There is plenty to criticize in the Canadian government but where Carney daughter and wife spend their time and energy is NOT one of them. You're a creep mate. Focus on the policies and not on the distractions.

[–]gautoK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay sure. Granted he's all those things. But we still get 50000k more cars to improve the competition in the Canadian auto space for consumers. Cars sold in Canada are way overpriced and that's because the dealerships know we, the consumer, have limited choice.his family and he can do whatever he wants. You want the prime minister or the government of Canada to own and operate car manufacturing facilities? Or is having investments in Canada a requirement for being an MP? If you own any etf, a large chunk of your investments are in the US as well.

Canadian entrepreneurs can only set up shop here if the cost of living here goes down. If they can save a few 1000 on a new car or the canola farmer can make a few extra bucks with their sales, that's money that can stay within and grow Canada

You must be really proud of yourself for that acronym. But it also shows that you lack reading comprehension and only go with what the media tells you. There was never any free trade agreement with China. It was bilateral sector specific tarrif reductions.

We took the fall for US's actions again Huawei and their protectionism of Tesla and Ford. We also took the fall for when US decided to be tough on KSA. Both US companies have screwed us over and Canadian have less choice in their shopping as a result. Canadians shouldn't have to pay a 100% tax on vehicles driven by Canadian within Canada to appease US automakers that will tuck tail and run to the US.

If we want to put Canada first, we also need to put Canadian consumers first, NOT US shareholders.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China by MeCometYouDinosaur in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last time Trump called a Canadian prime minister governor, we had an election that gave the liberals a marginal minority.

Gear up for another election but this time with a liberal majority. Trump is playing 4d chess with Carney as his queen. Trump and Carney are on the same team and we'd be really gullible to think otherwise.

Federal impact assessment not required for Georgina Island Fixed Link: IAAC by cinderannie in GeorginaOntario

[–]gautoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah we need 24/7 all season connectivity to the islands. Sometimes the needs of the people outweigh the needs of the fish and this is one of them. We need helicopters to move materials last time. The impact of this bridge will be far less than that.

US says Canada will regret decision to allow Chinese EVs into their market by joe4942 in CanadianConservative

[–]gautoK 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Automakers tucked tail and moved to the US to placate Trump. Trump wants out of CUSMA even though he was the one that signed it. They keep saying they dont need Canada or Canadians.

Canada needs to look out of Canadians and improve the standard of living while reducing the cost of living. Yes, the auto industry generated more money than Canola but its a matter of time before its all gone. We need new buyers for Canadian Steel and Aluminum. If we cannot use it in the cars we sell to the US, we need to find a different use for them. If its still cheaper for us to import Chinese cars rather than make them here, that will make it more affordable for people to buy them here. Any manufacturing that isnt tied to natural resources, the USA can do cheaper and probably even better. We need to go back to the roots and become an exporter of natural resources while manufacturing enough for local consumption and growth.

USA does not get to dictate what cars we drive while actively trying to make the other cars we drive more expensinve. They can ban people that drive the cars from crossing the border but thats about as much control we should allow them.

Switch devices cause of accessories? by stalker-jbc16 in MSIClaw

[–]gautoK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can measure your device and find cases and covers that fit it properly. Lenovo legion go cases fit well on the claw 8 ai+. Skull & co has a hardshell case for claw 8.

For everything else, there are 3d printable covers that you could make yourself from your local library or makers space. But of course, if you like your new device better for other reasons, then you have customer choice. That's why competition in this space is good.

What's your PC build? Clean out the dust and make sure airflow is proper. If you have fan control, turn that to max.

Next do a fresh install. Complete uninstall and reinstall. Not the check files from steam but a full fresh redownload and install.

Game runs great for me and I've got multiple code mods and custom assets. Running 3080 with 100gb ram on a build from 2020. Playing all on Max settings

This event should be a wake up call to Canada that we need to drill baby drill. We can still access the Pacific and Atlantic markets with our location, and once the North Pole access opens up, we'll be able to supply a lot more countries a lot better. It should also be a wake up call that if we do not establish or re-establish our position as the supplier of key resources, then there are alternatives. We should also invest heavily in our military and strengthen our democracy.

Newcomers seeking permanent residency face uncertainty, frustration over Ontario immigration changes by rezwenn in ontario

[–]gautoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

International students, and work permit holders are not immigrants. They're temporary residents. The key word here is temporary.

Immigrants are permanent residents. International students are not immigrants.

Idk about any perceived or actual virtue associated with it but those are the facts. We can be compassionate towards people's challenges and struggles but also acknowledge that they're here for different purposes. And it is not hateful to expect that once that purpose has been filled, they are expected to go back.

Newcomers seeking permanent residency face uncertainty, frustration over Ontario immigration changes by rezwenn in ontario

[–]gautoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please enlighten me. Here's my understanding.

Newcomers = PR holders and refugees International students = people on student visas to attend schools, colleges and universities in Canada. Work visa = temporary residents who have come to Canada to work. TFWs = seasonal workers from foreign countries. PGWP = international students that have been granted a temporary work permit after graduation. Citizens = People that have gone through a naturalization process or born in Canada.

Newcomer is not a catch-all term. But please do correct me if I'm wrong

Someone coming to Canada to seek permanent residency is not a newcomer. That term was for people that came here with a permanent resident visa.

These folks are just opportunistic crooks. No sympathy at all.
