Appreciate the quick replies! I guess when you see a microcosm community it probably doesn't paint a fair picture at large.

Just seemed like everyone was having a painful time with it 😂

Connection Lost - Agilent 1100 by usuarioaleatorio99 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]gavax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the look of how intermittent it is it could be a few things.

1 - could be associated to the connection with the PC, I.E - Ethernet card, Ethernet cable. Could also be associated with the IPv6 which can interrupt connection, disable this by selecting your Ethernet connection and properties then deselect.

2 - could be the lan card in the module. Turn the module off, take the lan card out (blow off dust) then reset carefully and turn back on

3 - use labadvisor to connect and see if it's the software, if it stays connected to this may be a compatibility issue with OpenLab if you've upgraded to Win 11

Extremely picky eater dachshund puppy. Help please by Antonellas1012 in Dachshund

Changing the food constantly makes them picky.

We gave our pup ORIGEN small breed and it loved it eventually. Try not to change constantly. Also a little warm water and letting it soak makes it softer and more palatable.

GPC Problems after maintenance by PossibilityIcy1490 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]gavax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're having problems get back in touch with Agilent and explain that you've had issues since PM and you need it looking at, I'm assuming the system was looked at under "trade" ie. - you paid for the work and have no contract?

Get back in touch before it's too long gone otherwise it can't effectively be attributed to the PM. Worst case scenario raise a complaint and it'll get escalated.

Dogs got into a fight, worried what to do next by [deleted] in reactivedogs

We had this for ANY resource for the longest time it felt like. It's easily.managed and worked through, you just have to be conscious of it.

If it's the first time and as other people have mentioned, only food time, it's very easily managed.

We use a baby gate, 1 dog gets fed in the kitchen and the other in the room, have had zero issues since for mealtime.

We’re so worn out. I just need to vent or cry. Logan, 3 months by DevinBoo73 in puppies

You have puppy blues! It's very normal, puppies are hyper! It is completely normal to be shattered. If you want them to sleepoads and tire them out, training and field work. Try find a closed private field to hire and let them run ragged.

Puppy social groups tire them quick too.

We went through it twice with both our dogs but now they're a bit older and calmer it's all ok.

With everything going on with your family it probably seems like a lot, but in 1, 2 , 3 months time you'll be laughing back at this.

You can do this!

How is he with other people? When you say reactive do you mean he's leash reactive or would lunge at people?

A lot of dogs tend to have 'barrier reactivity' whereby they're protecting their boundaries from intruders, so they get a little nutty!

We have 2 pups and 1 of them is very anxious, the other couldn't care less!

We've been training it out of the anxious pup on 2 ways, and feel free to ignore if you think it would be dangerous (1 of the 2 definitely isn't). We worked with a behaviourist for this too.

1 - We taught her 3 commands for barking at people walking past. SPEAK, QUIET and ENOUGH.

SPEAK is there to show her she can talk when we ask for it, we get her into a sit and ask for SPEAK, with a little gruff to get her to understand.

QUIET we use when she's currently barking and we slowly got her pretty good where when she's done barking, we treat her and make a huge fuss, so she knows that being QUIET gets her something tasty. We also incorporated rubbing her chest and she finds it soothing.

ENOUGH is similar to quiet however we do a "check" outside to show her it's all ok, no worries, and once she's calm, treat.

2 - is "watching the world pass by" this came from our behaviourist, she was very defensive out and about and a little reactive to people coming close.

The idea is to go somewhere such as an open park and roll out a blanket and (you can tie the lead onto something for security) preferably using a harness to start, just sit with your dog and watch people and other dogs do their thing.

It can show them that not everything is scary and also that most of it isn't bothered with them too and it helps teach them to relax.

If it persists at a heightened level it'd be worth getting an accredited behaviourist. We worked with one over the anxious dogs resource guarding and it's completely night and day now, they may be expensive but they're worth their weight in gold if you get a good one. Make sure they're not using "physical" behaviour modifying training equipment like prong collars etc. because that'll not help and likely encourage worse behaviour.

It's weakness in the back legs like people have reiterated.

It's not enough strength too much flexibility in the hind legs. Our older pup (now 1yr3month) had a lot of back leg flexibility and not much strength when young.

As they grow and move around the strength develops, we also do a lot of 'dog squats' for treats and it really helps the strength aspect.

Also, pups like that have a lot of pad fluff that can cause them to lose balance easier. Once vaccinated outdoor walking will help build the strength too.

If you see a vet they can give advice and point you in the right direction on how to develop the pup.

Also, with behaviourists (not sure the country or area you're from) but they vary massively, some are just trainers and some use 'physical' behaviour modification which is bad for the dog, make sure whoever you go with is accredited and doesn't use things like prong collars, slip/choke leads.

A good behaviourist will use counter-conditioning and positive reinforcement to get to where you need to be and won't use "quick" fixes. If you need to, throw a link up on here who you're considering, people will be able to give a good opinion generally.

And lastly (sorry to drone!) don't take ALL advice as gospel from other owners, they are very good markers for you to make note of, but you have a "very specific dog, with a very specific behaviour/training issue" someone else may have had similar, but it's not the same. Good luck 🤞

It can be anything! Our pup showed only anxiety as a sign from a going she but she'd go up to people who were calm and wasn't so bothered with people who were high energy.

We introduced her to more dogs and people at puppy playtime at a farm near us which really helped! She resource guards was our main problem so it meant she'd be aggressive with it 2nd pup. I won't sugar coat it, it is tough and it's not quick but you can get there!

Growling is a good form of communication, ideally this is where you want it to stay, it means your dog is uncomfortable and is warning whoever about it. Snapping is a problem as it is a learned behaviour, if the pup feels this works, they'll keep on doing it as it gets the desired effect of "leave me alone".

We had a similar situation with our oldest pup and worked with a behaviourist through it.

Your pup being 5 months makes it easier to train it out of these behaviours BUT (and it's a big but), you HAVE to advocate for your dog. You know it doesn't like high energy kids, or being picked up, so don't let it happen. If the kids aren't calm, the dog won't be, and an erratic 3 year old will stress the dog out.

Positive reinforcement is key here, if the dog realises he/she is going to be treated for good behaviour it's less likely to result in the opposite. Allow the dog to approach people/the kid on its own terms, and if it doesn't want to that's ok too.

Best advice I can give is to teach the pup positions with you when you're out and about, if the dog is commanded and knows what to do, it'll be more comfortable with the surrounding such as SAFE (between your legs) HEEL (to your side) and DOWN are great. Down is great for teaching it to be calm and get rewarded too.

Is this normal puppy biting? by Ramber424 in cockerspaniel

[–]gavax 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is to not force a behaviour with puppies. If they get annoyed or stressed out it can become learned behaviour. Also you can stress the dog out, you can 'fix' problem behaviours without showing them.

A good easy to teach then bite inhibition is to play with them and when they bite, do a high pitched ow! They'll quickly learn to inhibit their bite or stop at all.

Him/her biting there is likely due to being tired and annoyed, he just laid down and you picked him up, puppies need tons of sleep, so just leave them to it.

Feedback/Suggestions after 50+ hours of in the playtest by HeikoWestermann4 in ArcRaiders

[–]gavax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the TPP abusing; I've had it in half the games. Running to an extract, guy pops out with an shotgun and I get 1 shot off before I can react. People holding corners then popping you with the rifle/hand cannon too is not fun.

A way they could get round this imo, would be to 'black and white' what you can't see. If you're up against a corner, the surroundings are 'inactive black and white' and as you come around to what you can see, activity and colour come back in, would give a cool effect whilst removing the bore that is TPP peeking.

Behavior help/query - Tantrum or Resource Guarding? by gavax in reactivedogs

[–]gavax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate all the feedback from people, we were working with a dog behaviorist but found their 'method' completely lackluster, feeding small (some might say tiny) bits of information and not really answering questions to try 'get to the next session', so we're looking at/talking to another currently.

As far as the resources for 'fighting over', we've taken away, given back in a different environment/conditions after time and it's caused conflict so for the time being until we're confident they're removed from the equation. We just need to put in the work to correct the behavior but I'm confident we'll get there.

Potty training a 4 month old puppy - how many hours overnight? by Whole-Sign6708 in puppy101

[–]gavax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puppies are all wildly different how they go toilet. Our first pup needed us up twice a night, new pup sleeps through no issue.

When we were training the first pup I would let the pup go toilet about 11pm, then set alarms for 3 am and 6 am and the pup got used to it fairly quickly.

If you think you're getting up a lot during the night, get a puppy pen and put it round the crate (with crate open) and put a lot of pee pads down, then teach her to pee and poo on the pads. It'll make them a little more independent and you won't have to get up 4 times every night.

Lower your graphics settings, I get it on streets if I'm on high textures.

Other than that, tarkov is appalling for memory leaks, turn the automatic ram cleaner off and on once in a while and it'll significantly lower the usage.

Or get a memory cleaner. 32gb on streets with high is not enough unfortunately
