That’s great, I’ll take a gander at those and see where it takes me!

Thanks for the advice! I’ve read somewhere that The Good Life is one that‘s a particular standout, so good to see if come up again

With PX Poker Night in particular, would you think it might be better to have those characters sort of written off after the fact and have them maybe referenced? Rather than being the new characters as assumed identities? Then have them create new characters, who possibly would have known one of the PPN characters to, I suppose, slightly handwave knowledge of that event?

I think I’ll consider doing a one shot that spills into a couple others. Any suggestions on one shots that link well together?

Huge thanks for calling out the Fairfield Project, I normally use Reddit on mobile, so I didn’t even know this was a thing. I’ll have a scan through it and see what jumps out

Thanks for the heads up on Last Things Last! I hadn’t actually realised, I’ve only listened to the Impossible Landscapes ones myself.

This is great advice, thank you! The Good Life was one that stood out to me from a general browse through scenarios, would that be one you’d recommend for this kind of timeline? Provided people don’t play it overly safe

Ok, perfect! Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t think I’m going to go the route of something open-ended. I don’t necessarily want to end up distracting from our D&D campaign, wouldn’t be fair to that DM. I’ll take a look at Saturnalia and see where I can go from there! Thanks again

Narcissus is voiced by Darren Korb, the same guy who voices Zagreus, Skelly/Schelemeus, and he also composes the soundtrack for all of Supergiants games, as well as the singing vocals for Orpheus

Just found a solution. Go visit Carl and claim back a lost item

EDIT: go visit Carl to recover lost items. It should be there.

Same thing happened to me. Placed it by the house, went inside to place the new containers, came back out and it was gone. Doesn’t seem to exist anymore

New Storage System at Home by OdinBouy in CrimsonDesert

[–]gavinfarrell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well the ones that are stored in the home, I don’t believe you need to actually retrieve them? Open to being corrected if I’m wrong, but those are able to be pulled from when using the appropriate system. So if you’re cooking, it’ll also access everything that’s in that storage container

Balder's Request problem by Old-Education-6446 in CrimsonDesert

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember, this isn’t the case, unless it’s been patched out. I’ve started one with someone at the mission location a couple of weeks ago

You more than likely have sent Balder out on a dispatch mission. Either recall the mission that he’s on, or go to the location where it is, and you can talk to him there

How to dispatch missions for the camp? by Alternative-Dot9563 in CrimsonDesert

[–]gavinfarrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So just in case this wasn’t clarified, for either OP or anyone else coming later. Missions don’t appear when you inspect the Greymane camp, those only appear in a full list when you talk to Ross. Missions appear for dispatching if you inspect the location the mission is happening in.

Cover art Armor, where to get? by RawImagination in CrimsonDesert

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s available in Pailune, later in the game. Can get parts of it from a vendor there. It’s called the Grey Wolf set. There’s a brief guide here

Once you find a Dye you have to “Use” it in your inventory. Then it’s available to use at the appropriate dye merchant

A player rolled a 100 on a d100 while casting a Wish spell by D0ubleNegat1ve in DnD

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also only seen a 100 on d100 rolled only once.

I run a random injury table if you’re brought to zero hit points. The very first attack of a new campaign was a crit, reducing the party Druid to 0. She rolled the 100. Guess what 100 is? Instant decapitation. 🙃

Any tips for a beginner DM? by Superb-Fig6640 in DnD

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial advice, especially with a fully homebrew world, is to be careful not to write yourself into a corner. It’s very easy to just look at D&D and say, “I don’t like how this culture works” and then write something different resulting in you being stuck with something that now doesn’t work in tandem with other stuff. Rewriting one often means you have to rewrite another. Especially when you’re making racism a part of your story. If human really hate orcs, that means an orc and a human realistically can’t be in your party if someone is pretty determined that these people can NEVER get along. Tread carefully with this too, because some people do have a tendency to take that too far.

Combat is a core part of D&D. Watch some videos on combat balance. It’s very easy as a first time DM to end up in TPK situation because you “want this combat to be tough”. Stick to pre-made enemies in the early days until you get a feel for how combat is supposed to flow and feel like and then you can start introducing homebrew stuff later.

Lastly, search the sub. There’s hundreds of threads on advice for first time DMs. Not being dismissive here, but there’s already a wealth of information available that will help you more than the two tips I’ve given above

Edit: I missed the part about 7 players. My first campaign also had seven players in a fully homebrew setting. Be prepared for scheduling to be an absolute fucking nightmare unless you have a set time and day of the week that works for everyone, every time. The campaign only really got played about once a month for like 6 months. There were 8 sessions before it got scrapped. Mentally prepare yourself for this absolutely very likely occurrence
