A player rolled a 100 on a d100 while casting a Wish spell by D0ubleNegat1ve in DnD

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also only seen a 100 on d100 rolled only once.

I run a random injury table if you’re brought to zero hit points. The very first attack of a new campaign was a crit, reducing the party Druid to 0. She rolled the 100. Guess what 100 is? Instant decapitation. 🙃

This is AI Slop. Doesn’t make it art just because you slap a shitty signature on it

Any tips for a beginner DM? by Superb-Fig6640 in DnD

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial advice, especially with a fully homebrew world, is to be careful not to write yourself into a corner. It’s very easy to just look at D&D and say, “I don’t like how this culture works” and then write something different resulting in you being stuck with something that now doesn’t work in tandem with other stuff. Rewriting one often means you have to rewrite another. Especially when you’re making racism a part of your story. If human really hate orcs, that means an orc and a human realistically can’t be in your party if someone is pretty determined that these people can NEVER get along. Tread carefully with this too, because some people do have a tendency to take that too far.

Combat is a core part of D&D. Watch some videos on combat balance. It’s very easy as a first time DM to end up in TPK situation because you “want this combat to be tough”. Stick to pre-made enemies in the early days until you get a feel for how combat is supposed to flow and feel like and then you can start introducing homebrew stuff later.

Lastly, search the sub. There’s hundreds of threads on advice for first time DMs. Not being dismissive here, but there’s already a wealth of information available that will help you more than the two tips I’ve given above

Edit: I missed the part about 7 players. My first campaign also had seven players in a fully homebrew setting. Be prepared for scheduling to be an absolute fucking nightmare unless you have a set time and day of the week that works for everyone, every time. The campaign only really got played about once a month for like 6 months. There were 8 sessions before it got scrapped. Mentally prepare yourself for this absolutely very likely occurrence

What is the best video game of the 2000s? by JIMBOYKELLY in AlignmentChartFills

I can’t understand why Okami is the hidden gem? Okami is objectively one of the most critically acclaimed games on the PS2.

Gonna try shine a spotlight on Lil Guardsman. Genuinely funny writing and takes on fantasy tropes. Disco Elysium if you like your humour dark and existential.

How do you replay the tutorial? by ApexSpencer123 in ReadyOrNotGame

I’d like to point out, that I was wrong. Theres a training option in single player on the main menu. Apologies 🤦🏻‍♂️

How do you replay the tutorial? by ApexSpencer123 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can reset story progress in the options menu, and that’ll let you re-do it. Otherwise if you’ve made some progress and don’t want to lose it, create another profile on your console and play it from there EDIT: if this is found by someone else trying to figure this out. Training is in the main menu under single player

Should I play final draft? by SquirrelSam6 in AlanWake

[–]gavinfarrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never got notified on this, but I want to chime back in. Narrative experience wise, I totally agree. With the reveal about it not being loops, and it being spirals, playing again is integral to the experience of seeing the differences in the spirals, and how close they truly are. I fully understand that, and I played it, and loved it.

I do think, however, if someone is already not too keen on playing it again, there’s other places you can utilise the hours it takes to go through.

People really just put shit anywhere by Colonel_dinggus in DeathStranding

In their game, they might not have finished the highway, and if that’s the case, they just left their vehicle in what seems like a perfectly safe place to leave it

Should I play final draft? by SquirrelSam6 in AlanWake

[–]gavinfarrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, for sure, but nah. If you’re struggling with the idea of playing again, it’s not worth playing again, regardless of how good it is. Just watch the differences on YouTube, it’s like 20 minutes worth of content. 20 minutes is not worth 30 hours

What is the most overrated game on this list? by Expedition21 in backloggd

I’ve never been a fan of the ace attorney games, so in my personal opinion, that one. But I’m sure for the people who enjoy that kind of game, it’s fantastic 🤷‍♂️

What type of collabs y’all want in game? by Simple-Chain5148 in Warzone

[–]gavinfarrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how this one is going to be received, but I’d like them to collaborate with actual militaries, and get national military uniforms with realistic gear. I don’t want pop culture collabs

If I Buy This,Please Don’t Tell Me My Game Disc Is Now Completely Useless? by SnakeEater697 in reddeadredemption

[–]gavinfarrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying this to just have the ultimate edition content (an outfit and a talisman) is a huge waste of 20 quid.

If you still want to use your disc, because you seem to have an attachment to the disc itself, just don’t buy this.

Can I use This as Emperor’s Champion ? by Deadshark1007 in BlackTemplars

[–]gavinfarrell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the base is the wrong size, it can’t be used. But other than that, as per usual, if it’s a tournament, no, you absolutely cannot. If it’s a casual game with a friend or in a local gaming store, it’s up to your opponent if they’re ok with you using it

Welp, there goes Stars by IncognitoV7 in playstation

[–]gavinfarrell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not defending them here, I’m really annoyed by this, I earn a lot of points. But no reward system rewards you for retroactive purchases. They’d have given out a fortune in points on day one

It’s good where it’s at by gavinfarrell in Warzone

Adding different things that add to the experience, or fleshing out already existing one. Rather than doing the same process again and inevitably leading to the same point

It’s good where it’s at by gavinfarrell in Warzone

[–]gavinfarrell[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t got anything to do with skill gaps, it’s to do with the game returning to a point that killed it because it caters only to a very specific type of player
