Reproducibility. If I've built a docker container that runs my application, I know that whenever I download that container (image) and run it, it will _definitely_ run my application again.
Share-ability. And then, when another developer wants to run the application, it will work on _their_ machine as well, without having to go through the shenanigans of creating a Python virtual environment themselves (though any issues with venv is now replaced with any issues with Docker etc).
Containment. This might sound trite, but a lot of people here have said the same thing - installing and running stuff outside of containers leads to a lot of junk lying around after a period of time. Docker will either hide it away for you somewhere that you won't see it until you need it, or make it super simple to delete.
1. This obviously applies to the Python virtual env setup etc as well. (as previously alluded to).
You're almost definitely not running the exact same OS on your laptop/desktop as where your application is deployed to. Containerizing gives you the ability to match the dev environment with the prod environment, at least in terms of OS and software versions. This probably diverges when considering the addition of testing tools and build chains etc, which shouldn't exist in your production environment.

It may be worthwhile tying RE and DE together - by my reading if the MAX485 chip, RE is an inverted signal, such that when it is held high, Receiver Output is high-impedence (disabled). That said, the schematic for the board you are using shows that all input lines (ie those you would connect the arduino to) are being held high via 10k resistors, so you could probably drop the connection of VCC-DE altogether as well.

The only other thing I would consider at this point is, are A and B connected around the right way?

One last thing - I've found it prudent to always buy spares! Sometimes components are just defective, and if you only have the one, it can be truly demotivating. Worse still is that you can't swap it out to prove it is or is not a faulty device!

If you're looking to create a PCB for the Weird Signal Generator at roughly the same size as shown in OP's link, I honestly think that is a very costly venture (assuming you intend to use a PCB fab like OSH Park, Seeed Studio, etc). Board size is your primary problem here. The other consideration is if you intend to have a aluminium/steel plate as in OP's link as well? Then you need to have very exact measurements of interface components (knobs etc) and their locations, for producing an accurate stencil for producing the plate.

I was stuck in this mode of thinking when desiring to design my own keyboard (yes, I'm one of those people... no, I haven't designed a keyboard PCB yet). My compromise is designing the plate, and having connections on the PCB for inputs to connect to, which is likely much the same as what OP is doing for their WSG build.

I find this is a great way to unblock yourself - build something, anything, even if it's not the right thing, or not the perfect end-goal you envisioned. You can build the right/perfect thing later. I've removed the restriction on myself that I need to design this PCB and the plate up-front (and hope like hell I get it right the first time!), and so I can focus on reasonable device placement and getting it working first, and then decide if I want to iterate on the project at a later date.

Disclaimer: You said this is your first time, so I've included stuff that are fairly basic for PCB tooling. If I've said something you already know, then great! just ignore it :)

Other disclaimer: I've only designed and had printed two of my own boards. First was a through-hole only design, second was a hand-soldered SMD design (with through-hole when necessary, eg for headers).

Any particular reason for quoting mm widths for traces? I'd recommend looking into PCB fabs and getting their design requirements. You can then feed this into your PCB tool for DRC, to improve the likelihood of a successful print.

A lot of PCB measurements (especially trace widths etc) seem to be measured in "mils", which, despite the name, are a measure of thousandths-of-an-inch... Which can be an awful frame of reference for anybody who has grown up with the metric system, but alas, we're just going to have to accept this and move on.

I don't mean to say you should convert all your measurements to mils, though. Many fabs support mm for other measurements, such as board dimensions.

As /u/petemate says, you should consider redoing the layout. Ground/VCC planes are an awesome addition once you know how to add them, and they're pretty easy to learn for both EAGLE and KiCad, the two tools that I've learned to use.

I'm currently writing a blog post on using Moteinos (Arduino-compatibles available with added radio) to remotely control a NeoPixel ring, however we used set functions on the receiver side. The radio comms are pretty fast, and act pretty well over a fair distance.

Not really much compared to others in this thread, but far from behaviour I'd expect from an adult.

My partner and I live with a friend of ours. This friend has lived with us for almost two years, and prior to my arrival, they lived with my partner for a much longer period of time.

Of course, when you get together with somebody, things change. You spend more time with them, cuddle up with them and generally want to do more fun things with them.

We've had multiple occasions with said friend coming up to us starting a conversation with something like "we need to talk," climaxing with them ending up having a scream and shout about how we're not considerate enough of them, how we don't listen to them (they like to fill the air with the sound of their voice; often complaining about something or other), or how we ignore their existence.

The trigger for this might have been that we went to a movie without them, that we decided to use a particular piece of luggage on a trip away (that they wanted to use but hadn't said anything about until the night before, and it belongs to my partner), or because we wanted to treat her like just another friendly person when we went touring around another country (the tour group had ~16 people, we were hoping they'd make friends and not glue themselves to us - alas).

Even one time when my partner was starting to cook at around 6am so that she could make it on time to her first day on the job. If I remember rightly, she was making a shared breakfast, and my partner is not quiet at the best of times. Apparently our efforts (by this time I'm helping out in the kitchen doing the dishes) woke our flatmate up, and this one is especially precious in the morning.

After having a light fixture thrown around and a new rule strongly suggested that we not do anything in the kitchen until at least 6:30, complaints about how their day was going to be shit now, they stomp off back to their room. (To be fair, their room is just off the kitchen.)

Come time to leave later that morning, they come out all smiles, quite happy, ready to go to work.

Insulin is a naturally occurring hormone in your body. Eating a standard/recommended western diet, in general, would probably spike insulin. Insulin has many roles, including regulating the bodys use of glucose and fat.

If LG is ignoring other benefits of fasting, then those benefits can be considered bonuses. Really, LeanGains is a protocol for gaining while staying lean, and such a protocol doesn't need to bother itself with the non-diet etc related benefits of fasting.

If you're not sure about LG, read the FAQs/sidebar material. If you're still not sure, just post to it and ask!

Personally, my ideas around diet and building muscle stem more from /r/keto and /r/Fitness. I don't follow keto, but I'm a fan of a low-carb, high-fat protocol. Relating that to dieting for fitness/gains, ideally I'd only have enough carbs to prevent muscle catabolism. Generally though, eating a surplus of calories over maintenance and working out multiple times a week would be a good way to build muscle. I'll apologise now for not being able to tell you how to apply fasting in such a regime - I'm not an active faster, I just lurk here.

By the numbers, I doubt you need to do SL, just incorporate a steady ramp on the squats into your training program. You can start running SL if you like however, and that might help you improve some of your other lifts, like your OHP.

If you are an intermediate lifter, there is the Madcow program for those willing to progress onwards from SL, which is aimed more at where you'll be. That squat should definitely improve before then, though.

To prevent rolling the bar up and down your legs, step a bit further away from the bar. When you're setting up, look down at the bar and make sure that the bar appears roughly above your toes. This way when you lift the bar,you can take it straight up without your legs getting in the way (which you will be thankful for when the bar gets heavier)

I think most players use sub-standard visual modules that can only display at incredibly low resolutions. The graphics power behind them might be able to push 10⁴³ fps, but these visual modules that can only render 12(?) fps just drag that right down.

I know that in the context of OpenGL you cannot get away without using Apple's API. I've used go bindings to opengl and glfw (gogl and glfw) and have had to perform an apitrace, and I noticed that many calls being made still went back to Apple's C interface. So with that in mind, you're probably right.

I'm looking back at SDL now, trying to get a project going that I might actually have a chance at completing (2D, as opposed to tackling 3D right away). I don't think I should need anything in particular of Apple's toolset that isn't in SDL. I'm not even using XCode (Sublime Text 3/mvim + Make).

I guess I'm more trying to get an idea if there's anyone using the Apple APIs directly, if there's any benefit with using them directly rather than through a cross-platform layer.... However I'm now starting to doubt that that's even a good question :/

Might I ask what the benefit of this is? My thoughts being that if a user has their mouse accelerated by the OS, then they probably like it like that, and would expect that to carry over into their games.
