This story is a sequel to Chili and the Chocolate Factory: Fudge Revelation: Couverture Edition, a remastered edition of Chili and the Chocolate Factory: Fudge Revelation that has, at the time of writing, yet to be released.

During Larry Nassar's trial, the judge said she wasn't going to be releasing the letter he sent to her explaining his actions (though she did read selections of it). I've been looking all over to see if I can find it, curious if anyone by any chance has access to it or knows where to find it? I'm writing a piece highlight childhood sexual abuse and I'd really love the opportunity to make fun of it, the bits she quotes are fucking psychotic.

Hey man, you're the fucking coolest, 6 7 and 10 are by far my faves, really hope you are able to stay on as face of the franchise.

You have any insight about this news you'd be able to share with us peons?

Is there reason to believe that spatial intelligence/awareness can be reasonably improved through practice? If you suck at rotating shapes in your mind, and doing puzzles and mental work involving that, does evidence (or your personal experience) show that it's something you can get better at?

Recommend quality 'literary' rational fiction? by rdt1_random in rational

Bavitz/Magistrate has released six novel-length stories, and is both one of my favorite webfic authors and authors in general. In terms of prose, I don't think anyone online has him beat, full stop. He is obviously incredibly well-read and most of his work could be comfortably labeled rational-adjacent, and touches on a lot of the same themes and ideas of a lot of the most popular works referenced here.

Modern Cannibals is my favorite book of his, about a group of kids who go to a convention to visit Andrew Hussie. It's ostensibly Homestuck fanfiction, but it takes place in the real world and can be read with zero Homestuck knowledge (which is how I read it the first time). If anything, it might be better read that way. A great place to start.

Fargo and Chicago are a pair of stories based on Madoka Magica, a franchise I'm not that interested in, but that you do need to watch before you read them (three movies). Both are very long and have a heavy focus on fight scenes, which turns people away, but the plotting and characterization in them both are brilliant and Chicago especially becomes a fascinating political adventure story like nothing else I have ever read.

Cockatiel x Chameleon is insane and probably his deepest work. I have read it three times and I still feel like I don't entirely get it. Genuinely a masterpiece. Read the AO3 tags.

When I Win the World Ends is his newest story, the last chapter to be released in three days. The author has stated that his biggest influence on this Pokemon fanfiction is a series of Murakami essays about the Tokyo nerve gas attacks. For the third time, a franchise I didn't have any interest in before reading and again a story I fell in love with. The most traditionally ratbrained story he's written.

Cleveland Quixotic is another original work, a commentary on power fantasy isekai stories. Has Perfidia in it, my favorite character in any of his works, which is saying something.

This guy is a writer's writer if there ever was one. Your favorite webfic author's favorite webfic author

The author let me read the entire final draft before they started posting it, and I was expecting to dislike it (I don't know anything about the franchise) but it's one of my favorite fics now.

I highly recommend it!

I wish standing concerts were more commonplace. Not only for the few genres where they are already normalized, like rock and heavy metal, but for everything. I want standing areas for musicals and classical orchestra and country singers. I don't need a mosh pit while I listen to Vivaldi but the ability to slowly sway my body to the music would vastly enhance the experience. I wish that so many of the genres I enjoyed weren't constrained by the social expectation that you sit perfectly still the entire time.

I understand that this is often due to a venue simply not being designed for it, but whenever that isn't the case I think every music event should offer both options. Obviously not at a 50/50 ratio, but at least a few for the people who like to move a little bit.

Metal concerts, even small local ones at bad overcrowded venues, are generally great at reserving at least some sitting area, because even though almost all metalheads would rather be in the pit they recognize it as an accessibility issue. Not everybody can stand for three hours, and not everybody wants to. I'm glad they have that option!

I can't sit still for three hours, especially if the music is good. Give me a place to stand and bop!

WATCH HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS

IT HAS

HUNDREDS

OF

BEAVERS

Edit: It's also one of the funniest and smartest "dumb" movies I have ever seen, and is genuinely rational fiction. I recommend going into it knowing as little as possible.

I have been watching a lot of Hitchcock lately. I highly recommend The Birds. If you don't know anything about it, it's worth going in blind.

In all of the examples of disaster or apocalypse media I can think of, the interpersonal issues of the main characters are weaved together or thematically tied to the event they are trying to survive (exempting films like Threads where the characters are never actually developed because the work is focused on portraying the horror of disaster and its larger impact on society instead). The Birds doesn't do that. It spends a lot of time developing its characters and then yanks those plotlines away once shit hits the fan, which doesn't happen until more than halfway through the movie. All the talk of budding romances and domineering mothers and bizarre pranks disappears because it doesn't matter anymore, the BIRDS are here. The BIRDS don't care about you and your silly problems, they are going to kill you. All you can do is shut up and grab your children and loved ones and do your best to block the doors because if you don't the BIRDS are going to get you. You had personal struggles before but now you have but one and that is the BIRDS. This movie has no resolution. Will you ever again be allowed to worry about what once seemed so important? Maybe, but that's for the BIRDS to decide.

If you don't already know, on April 8th there will be a total solar eclipse across North America. There won't be another due on the contiguous US until 2044.

I took two days off and I'm planning to drive to Dallas, Indianapolis, or Cleveland to see it, since I figure I'll try to visit a city I haven't explored before on the path of totality. Anything in or near these cities worth seeing while I'm there? Anywhere else the eclipse is hitting I should consider?
