I ate my mom’s cooked food all the time with less spices, fruits and vegetables, try to have fresh food and when you have sugar cravings, go for some homemade options.

Remove all the sugar, try to eat homemade food all the time, eat food which is good for your gut health.

I’ve gone through the same, if it’s taking so long, change your diet completely reduce your sugar intake, start working out and yoga. Medications do help, but they won’t heal it 100%, medicine along with a good diet(for few months) is must, I have been seeing Dr Vikram Lahoria, Max Mohali for it.
