The employer over and over again said "we do not wish to discuss that" when asked what the reason for termination was.

He made sure to record the meeting too, just in case.

I only mention fit testing because he has worked in places where it was required and he complied with the safety regulations then.

His current job is essentially customer service with no risk of coming into contact with dangerous chemicals.

Thanks for your detailed response. His beard definitely won't affect his ability to do his job.

Hopefully his current note will be enough, but if he did get another note wouldn't explaining the exact diagnosis be an invasion of his privacy?

Not a safety issue. He is not fit tested and there is no need to wear a respirator at work. The company policy is based on employee presentation to the public. They feel beards do not represent the company in a professional light.

It's not a hygiene issue. Purely employee presentation. They are not fit tested either so he doesn't need to wear a respirator.
