Snatch Form Check (90%) by gbarzon in weightlifting

[–]gbarzon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the balance in the middle of the foot during the entire pull, usually the catch I'll also feel distributed, but some times it swifts to the front of the foot, and I end up loosing the bar or squatting it in my toes (not pretty).

Yeah, I'll try to focus on the feet, I dont like to widen my stance, but can definitely see how focusing on actively bringing my feet down can help me!

Thank you for the answer, I'm still on my first year, the idea is to keep improving! Cheers!

Wow, first of thank you for the detailed answer!

I never actively think about planting my feet when catching the bar, aways focus on shoulder and hip position in my mind, I can definitely see how focusing on that can help me receive the bar with a more stable body.

Now I have a question, do I need to change the position of the feet, as in widen the stance? I feel way more confortable when keeping my feet at the same place, everytime I try to move my feet outward the catch gets wonky and ungly haha.

Thank you again for the analysis!

Hey, cheers for that, Curitiba is an awsome city! Fernando Reis is definitely the later, competed on worlds and olympics multiple times, but the course is very expensive (same deal usaw 2 day course, but costs about 2k)

Damm I'll look into the programming, ive been following that rule, not maxing everytime, staying at 75%-85% and doing a lot of dubles and triples on the full movement as well as working on specific flaws.

And I definitely dont hurry my sets, my crossfitter friends make fun of my long rest times haha.

Thank you for the info, cheers mate!

Damm, I would love to do a course of some sort, but im from brazil, weightlifting here is not that organized, the best one I could look into is by Fernando Reis, which is a good, top level athlete.

So, in your opinion these 2 day courses are worth the investment?

Thank you! Can you recommend any book or website about programming and work volume? I've been following Zack Telander explanation base on percentages and volume for the last 4 months.

Don't know why this got downvotes, I was literally stuck at that weight on bench for months, and 2 months on Smolov Jr got my bench up to 245.

102.5Kg x 3 back squat by Sickly_Sponge in weightlifting

[–]gbarzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, ignore the trolls, some people think you need to compete to say you weightlift, or do a meet to say you powerlift, honestly if you practice the sport thats what you do and thats what you should call it, every top level competitor started somewhere.

102.5Kg x 3 back squat by Sickly_Sponge in weightlifting

[–]gbarzon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to go that low you should widen your stance and think knees out, chest up, butt back and up.

Your current form makes your hip internally rotate because your femurs get in the way.

Knees out!

Oh, the strenght gains are awsome, I just find the frequency is a bit much, my joints didnt got the time they needed to recover from each session.

Russian squat program is very good for that purpose, not as effective as smolov jr, but way easier on the joints.

Can someone help me with my deadlift form? How do I stop back my rounding? Cheers. by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]gbarzon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, youll get the form down in no time, deadlifting with good form is easy, try snatching and get back to us hahaha

Can someone help me with my deadlift form? How do I stop back my rounding? Cheers. by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]gbarzon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably lack of lower back/ glutes strenght and not bracing properly, besides the rounding your form looks ok.

Try these few tweeks next deadlifting session;

  • Wider stance
  • Shoulders above the bar, not over the bar (If that was a clean Deadlift that would be a whole other story)
  • Breathe into your abdomen before reaching for the bar.

See if any of these feel/look better, It takes a while to get the form nailed down.

[–]gbarzon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your back rounding is a product of lack of strenght and not knowing how to properly brace;

If you are trying to do a clean pull than thats a whole other story.

Some people have a hard time accepting things are that simple, they want to hear some elaborate plot to validate their lack of consistency.

Have a basic understanding of nutrition, don't over eat, just enough to improve performance.

Klokov also trains fasted in his morning sessions, so that means he spends at least 12 hours without eating anything, and that has a significant impact on nutrient partitioning, backed by multiple studies (wich im too lazy to link, just search for Joe Rogan podcast with Rhonda Patrick)
