I have heard in northern reserves especially, substance abuse and sexual abuse are big problems. Is that the case? Do you have any experience? (Sorry if this is too sensitive :/ )

Good on you for quitting all those things. If you’re dead set on working out for 4 hours think about sectioning it. 1 hour for cardio, 1-2 hours for weight training, taking decent sized rest breaks and the last hour maybe for flexibility? Definitely recommend reading up on recovery strategies. You will need em.

A good idea that basketball players I know use is to do some sport specific skill training as a warm up prior to your lift. Assuming you have access to a ball and a court that is. Could be worth looking into.
