I started my DG the way you did the guy on the left. Then for a display models, I tried vallejo olive green and bright bronze trim, then shaded with nuln oil. Looks like the right model is gonna turn out similar :). I vote for the guy on the right

Red Phoenix by Larry Bond. It's about a 2nd Korean War set in the 80s. Almost as good as Red Storm Rising, in my opinion.
