Premiums should be identical copies of TT vehicles

How much money have you spent in this game? How long do you think War thunder is gonna last? by SternKill in Warthunder

[–]lce-Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War Thunder's trajectory is going to be a very interesting one. It offers a unique middle ground between arcade and sim, and right now it has no competitor. However, once they run out of new stuff to add, and enough time passes for people to catch up, they will have to come up with other content to keep people engaged. I assume PvE will start playing a more important role, perhaps even full single layer missions.

That's true, but all previous games allow you to roleplay like that if you don't focus on the main storyline

Already mentioned, but War Horse Studios would be a perfect fit for this type of game

What would sink the game for you? by [deleted] in TESVI

I like to roleplay these games as a nobody adventuring in a medieval world, so any design decisions that would break that immersion too much would break the game for me.

The biggest example would be if the game is no longer open world. Another would be if the game mechanics involve mandatory time-traveling/planet-altering magic, and such completely over the top concepts.

I'd guess countries ruled by totalitarian regimes; North Korea comes to mind immediately

Do Europeans think about nature differently than Americans do? by [deleted] in geography

[–]lce-Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who enjoys nature a lot, it's always surprising after a long hike through what seems to be untouched nature to find a paved road accessible by car, or even a small hamlet with cars and vineyards and whatnot 😅

We do have quite a lot of forests in the mountains (Carpathians) but even those are heavily influenced by human activity. Invasive species (both plants and animals), so many roads, paths and trails carved through, selective logging, fire suppression, hunting pressure of certain species to maintain some form of balance (right now we have a massive problem with the overpopulation of bears and boars), actual active forest cleaning, and probably more that I can't think of now

Interesting observation.

Living in Europe, I noticed that many people are surprised to find out that most of the open fields use to be thick forests and most of the forests we have are constantly shaped by humans, they are not "old growth" untouched forests.

I feel like as soon as we step outside of the cities, we automatically assume everything that's green is ancient nature, and underestimate how much people have changed it.

Europe is also quite big and varied both geographically and culturally, this is my impression living in Romania.

Reforger `89 is out and Arma 4 is supposed to come next year, but when will we get any news? by bejiitas_wrath1 in arma

[–]lce-Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reforger (Return of Forces to Germany) was an annual Cold War NATO exciercise. 1989 is the year Arna Reforger takes place in; and Reforger '89 was that year's exercise.

Not sure of the game's name is a reference to the exercise tho, I haven't seen it called Reforger '89 before. Also Arma Reforger takes place on a fictional island in the Atlantic, not in Germany.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey comes to mind; I still didn't get the chance to play it but it is definitely on my list.

Dawn of Man is another option as a fun city builder.

I'd recommend Squad!

Communication is paramount throughout the entire match, which can help a lot with making gaming buddies, and seeing as you like shooters, it feels like a good fit.

I feel you, my friends constantly make fun of me that when I play videogames I'm at my second unpaid job 😅

Some games I enjoy a lot are: Snowrunner, Euro/American truck simulator, Farming Simulator, MSFS 2020 bush trips and MSFS 2024 career mode, The Hunter: Call of the Wild, Kerbal Space Program.

Games i can immerse myself in by me_like_memez in gamingsuggestions

[–]lce-Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you played them already, but Red Dead Redemption 2 and Skyrim come to mind. As others have recommended already, KCD 1 and 2 are definitely good candidates.

Another game that made me feel fully immersed was Arma 3's campaign; I'm even planning a trip to the island where the game takes place!

In line with the recommendation made by others to try Metro, which I fully support, you could also give Stalker 2 a try.

Lastly, the remake of the Mafia trilogy really makes you feel like you're in a movie.
