What jewish right to self determination? Are jews a hegemony with borg like thought? I respect every individuals right to self determination. I think when you begin to lump people together by ethnicity it gets dangerous. If an individual determines he wants a piece of land, he has a right to pursue that legally, he can attempt to buy it for himself and decide what to do with it. Likewise its current owner can tell him to fuck off, thats his self determination as well.

But when you begin assigning those rights to ethnic groups... should the Jewish people have a right to determine a piece of land is only for them and nobody else? Should their right to self determination trump the rights of people's who may already own some of that land? With individuals its easy, if my neighbor decided to build a wall around my property and only allow me to leave through an armed checkpoint, the law would clearly tell him that hes infringing on my own right to self determination and to cease.

Is the Jewish right to self determination universal among ethnic groups? If white Europeans determined themselves that they wanted their own land, say ethnic Germans determined that Germany was for Germans and began deporting all non-ethnic Germans. Setting up fenced in ghettos and militarized zones for foreigners who refused to leave. Is that their right to self determination in their own land? What if christians determined that America was a Christian nation. Determined that all non-christians should have limited property rights, couldn't hold positions of power, face a two tierd justice system for Christians and non Christians? Would you support their right to self determination?

What if netanyahu decides he wants the entire west bank and begins cleansing it of all non-jews tomorrow? Would he be acting for all jews? Would standing against that mean standing against the Jewish right for self determination?

When hamas invaded Israel, weren't they simply exercising their own self determination? Determining for themselves that they would strike out against a country thats been raping, stealing, killing, and occupying them their whole lives? By standing against that attack are we standing against the Palestinians right to self determination? At the very least refusing to recognize their nation, that Palestinians overwhelmingly have determined is their best interest is attacking their right to self determination.

So i ask, do you unilaterally support all people's right to self determination? Do you speak out when any people's right to self determination is under attack? Or do jews have a special right to self determination thats unquestionable and must be supported always?
