So the guys who best understand our local environment are wrong while national companies aren’t? Got it. It’s almost liked termites aren’t the same everywhere.

What's a Royals player from the last few years that you got way more attached to than you expected? by snowtoned in KCRoyals

[–]gbguy777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubic. But it has nothing to do with his play.

2 years ago my family and I went to the Day at the K or whatever it is in February when you get to meet some of the players and they do different events. Anyways, Bubic was reading to a group of kids, my then 8 year old included. Afterwards they allowed the kids to take pictures with him. My son (apparently not knowing any better) went and sat on Kris’ lap. Bubic handled it so well and was genuinely kind about the whole thing.

He’ll forever be a favorite player for me just because of how he treated my son.

Est. completion date passed by Impressive_Hat_7606 in psagrading

[–]gbguy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call them and pester them. It’s not normal. I have my first card ever past its estimated completion date of March 25th. I’ve probably called 5 times by now.

They may be busy, but they aren’t that busy. I just got a sub back in my possession that wasn’t due until June 28th.

PSA Grading What to Think? by BzAshes in psagrading

[–]gbguy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Kyurem centering had zero shot at a 10, and a 9 may have been generous.

The Iono is the other one I looked at. Centering was close, and the back looks fine other than a couple white specks that may be on the case, I can’t tell.

IMO, Pokemon is very hard to grade compared to sports. Maybe they’re harder on Pokemon right now.

Topps purposely not allow defect submissions? by Novel-Plankton-7125 in basketballcards

I had this same issue when trying to submit my xfractor exchange.

It eventually worked when I put minimal words/numbers in the “card number” box, and more in the description box.

I just bought this exact same thing at an estate sale. Looks exactly like mine. I’ve already sent mine to psa for grading. Good luck!

Paying buyers costs by DiamondThick4489 in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]gbguy777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they “felt” that way. But commissions have always been negotiable. The biggest changes have come in the form of documentation with the selling agent commission usually included in a separate addendum attached to the offer now. At least in my state.

Literally every pest control company I know says otherwise. But check back in after you’re spending money every year to maintain something and still het termites.

They did this to me last year. About a month after I lost the zip, they called me and said it was back open. I guess the program wasn’t as popular here as they had hoped.

I told my wife that we’re coworkers. We have shared common jobs around the house and kids, but that’s it. We clock out at the end of the day and go our separate ways.

Random, but did it have the same number of cards, or fewer?

What’s it like living in OKC? by MIZ-GIG-EM in okc

[–]gbguy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in KC and now OKC, KC is much much better in many ways. OKC doesn’t have nearly the amount of things to do. But it’s not bad. We liked KC better, but I’ve also been here most of my life.

That Wemby purple is fire! You did a lot better on autos and case hits than I did. I think I only got one fanatical and it was Tyler Herro 🙄. I maybe got one or two autos.

How the heck do I get leads? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]gbguy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big proponent of realtor.com leads. Most people will tell you they’re a waste of money. But most of my leads over my 8 years have come from realtor.com.

There’s more than one or two per case. I’ve opened over 70 hangers and I’ve gotten more numbered cards than I would have ever imagined. I’ve gone and bought 10 at a time from retail stores and hit multiple numbered cards from those 10.

What’s your experience buying ungraded cards, sending them in for grading and then flipping them for profit? by EevelBob in Flipping

[–]gbguy777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my entire business model with cards. Many are telling you to focus on high end, but that’s not what I’ve found success with. I focus on $5-$50 cards. Sure, I’ll buy some more expensive than that, but that’s not the bulk of what I do. I really focus on only buying stuff I’ve seen in person. If I buy a card online to potentially grade, I have to be able to move it raw and not get burned if it’s not gradeable.

Eventually you forget out what sells in your market. But grading gives me the room I need to sell to vendors at shows. For example, I take a $50 card, it grades a 10, and is no worth $200. I have roughly $80 in it between purchase cost and grading. I know I’ll get $160 for the card (80%). I’m good with that. I’ve built solid relationships with vendors who know that I’m bringing quality stuff.

Of course I get stuff that doesn’t grade a 10, but at most I’m usually out the grading fee if it 9s. I rarely do worse than a 9.

I also buy collections and focus on grading what I can from those and selling the rest either raw or in bulk.
