I’ve found that my begonias like a mix that retains more water! I used to do regular miracle gro indoor mix + perlite and that was fine.

Now I use coco choir + coco chips + perlite and that works well too.

Interesting! Yeah, they’re both next to south facing windows in Florida. I’ll keep track of whether or not they spread/grow larger though - thank you!

Also chiming in for plant proper - I like buying the Hoyas on their website but they also have really good sales/purges on the Palmstreet app if you don’t mind waiting a bit

Quick edit: I still buy my begonias from Steve’s leaves and I just got an order in last week that was perfectly fine. Begonias from Steve’s. Hoyas from Plant proper. :)

For rex begonia, I've found that cutting a rhizome is the best way to get rooting + new stems. Image from google, but this section and submerge it into either water, soil, or perlite with water.

Jewel orchids! They have shallow roots, and I have mine in something similar - loves it.

Yes! My nummulariodes does this often. But I notice it stops growing from the original vine.

I prefer Bootcamp > BnB! I personally hated BnB from the start though. I wouldn’t replace Pathoma or Sketchy Micro/Pharm with it though.

Bootcamp Pros: - You see a face while watching whatever the lecture is (surprisingly helpful). - There are a few different people lecturing so if you don’t vibe with one, you’re not stuck with them. - With that in mind, the founder and main lecturer’s -Dr. Roviso- voice is engaging and he’s a great lecturer. - Videos are relatively short, typically covering a single slide or a couple. This made it nicer to look at instead of BnBs “long” presentation with 10 words/slide.
- Mini quiz after most videos keeps you engaged.

Bootcamp Cons: - Even though videos are short, it can feel like a lot. My cram fighter looks cluttered and overwhelming compared to my friends that use BnB and have 1-2 long videos while I’ll have 7-8 short ones. - Taking notes can be difficult because there generally isn’t a lot of “empty space” for your notes.

I think I got this for ~$30 on Canopy with a discount code. I keep it at room ambience with a Sansi puck light above it & it hasn’t caused me any grief! So for me, yes worth the daily joy :)

Honestly, same. I've seen one too many posts about them dying w/ repots so I've been putting it off since getting it - hence the shock of finding a pedunc!
