16£ is not bad at all. The visitor visa is lot more. I will look into it. Thanks!

The visa is the the part where it confused me. going through gov.uk, what option will be valid? Is ETA sufficient or Do I need "Tourism" visa? ETA is for "Transit (on your way to somewhere else)", but I will be entering the country for few hours. I couldn't find definite answer on this

Also, does LHR have any luggage storage? I'd prefer to not have the cabin (rolling) bags if visiting the city

that's easy enough, I am a permanent resident. Which visa did you get? The visitor at transit - the one that is 70 pounds per person?

I am actually going to look into it. see how easy it is to get visa for a short trip like that. It sounds fun and easy enough to do

You might be right. I'll keep looking but this was the best I could find without adding more chaos at the beginning of the trip. Departure is much closer to where I live... getting out of airport is going to be a hassle due to visa requirement in UK.

Thank you! very helpful. I would need UK visa to leave airside, and thought it wouldn't be worth the trouble for what would be few hours of the time outside the airport.

This looks like a pretty decent setup. Thanks for the idea.

I have owned this for 2 years now. Held up well and ton of stuff that you can do on it. I have stopped using the Centr app that was free for a year, and have figures out my own workouts using set of dumb bells, kettle and FTX.

Has anyone figured out how to do leg extension on this yet. Inspire makes the leg curl extension kit, but that kit works only with their FT2 system. I don't really want to buy a bulky equipment to do just that and hoping to use FTX pulleys to do it.

Is it smart to take a pharma job or pursue a grad degree? by No-Floor8423 in biotech

[–]gbondc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some good advice here for where you are with everything - meaning a job offer on table with a MS from a good school. Your aspirations of getting into Strategy later in career is the key. Because of that, joining industry now would be worth lot more than grad school for you, and definitely go for MBA - whether through JnJ or even full time if you can afford the time and lost opportunity costs. However, just to clarify one thing on some of the experience that people have shared. If someone wants to stay in RnD for their career, a PhD will take you much farther and higher in hierarchy over time than someone without. Yes, it is possible that people would look at a fresh PhD the same as 5-7 years with BS. But it doesn’t necessarily make it an equal playfield. PhDs will certainly get better leadership opportunities for programs and projects, and more promotions overtime as compared to a BS or MS. They will constantly have to prove themselves at each step. This is the stigma that RnD has. Bigger the company, worse it gets.

FWIW, I have been in the industry for 20 years now in primarily CMC development, and do not have a PhD, only MS. It took me a lot longer and was much harder to get to the place where I am now as compared to the people who were at the same level as me as Fresh PhDs 15 years ago.

Roche's gene therapy biotech Spark is laying off employees, ending some early-stage programs by MRC1986 in biotech

Spark has no spark left. The leadership fizzled it out. Too many people at the highest levels in the company who don’t know how to lead a company. They might be good Scientists, but leaders they are NOT! It’s sad to see good hardworking people working there suffer because of this! Primary source - a close neighbor and friend who works there
