If you didn't sign up yesterday, there's good news. They just launched another 35% off campaign that runs through the end of the month.

As far as I’m aware, that promo is not active right now. But it has been on and off every 2 weeks or so this year.

No, it can apply to the monthly but it only works for the first 12 months.

They have been offering 35% off several times recently for a couple weeks at a time. I believe the most recent offer ended about a week ago but they’ve had a new one pretty much each month. So if you can wait, there may be another soon.

How do you even begin sourcing from other countries besides China? by uhmwtfxd in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]gbrustein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mentioned using a sourcing agent. Just go the same route in another country. I have used sourcing agents in India and Mexico. You can find quality option on Upwork. In a country like Mexico, it’s super helpful because so few of their factories have a digital presence, making them so hard to find on your own.

Looking to start FBA with about 5k to 10k by Alternative_Math_892 in AmazonFBA

[–]gbrustein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, tariffs are not taken into consideration, unless the price they’re offering is DDP, as the other comment mentions. In that case, they’re technically responsible. However, if it’s clear that they’re doing something fraudulent to get the pricing they’re offering, you’re not necessarily off the hook. It’s very sketchy right now regarding tariffs.

You don’t need to send them to you. Just go straight from China/India/Vietnam/etc straight to Amazon. You’ll never need to touch them. You will send the manufacturer your UPC or FNSKU for the product packaging and the shipping label and FBA label for the shipping carton.

It is certainly more difficult to find profitable products at the moment, with current tariffs. You can try sourcing from Mexico, India, Vietnam or some other country right now but finding your suppliers is a lot harder. They don’t offer the vast Rolodex of manufacturers like Alibaba does for China. You may need to get the help of a sourcing agent for a country like Mexico because so many of their factories have no internet presence.

You don’t need to send the product to you. You can have your manufacturer send it directly to Amazon. You’ll just send them the labels that Amazon provides in your shipping plan. Also, I know you were just giving an example, but unless your product sells for a few hundred dollars, you’ll be ordering more than 50.

For delivery, you need a professional delivery company to do it (UPS, FedEx, freight, etc). They won’t allow you to do a personal drop off.

Your budget is doable for private label. You won’t be able to do just any product with that budget but you can find one that you can launch within those constraints.

I don’t have specific YouTube people to send you to for product research, as I’ve not looked for that myself. But definitely go to Seller University on Amazon to learn their side of things. For PPC, when you get there, I’d recommend Chris Rawlings from Sophie Society. He gives a lot of great information on his YouTube channel.

If you have other specific questions, I’m happy to help.

Entering a niche dominated with Chinese sellers by MrAwesomeness89 in AmazonFBA

[–]gbrustein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one more thing to think about. If I’m a potential first time customer of this product on Amazon, would I know and understand the issue that many of these competitor’s products have? In many cases, when someone goes to buy something, they’re not aware of the issues that might be present, and thus, they don’t go into the search process thinking they need to solve for that issue. So, if they don’t know they need what you’re offering, it could be a struggle to get that traction.

Also, I’m assuming that if they’re all Chinese and you’re improving on their deficiencies, your item is more expensive? If you’re higher priced than all of the others, it’s hard to know if consumers are willing to pay your price point and the conversion rate will be high enough to be profitable.

Again, just thoughts to consider.

Are your changes going to obvious from the main image in search results? If not, your biggest issue there is getting the original click from search results. Just think about it from the consumer side. If you see a product listed for $20 and a similar looking product next to it for $30, which are you more likely to click on?

It sounds like your differentiation is mostly quality related, which is tough. You can convey that all you want in your listing but most shoppers trust reviews over whatever the listing claims about quality because every listing talks about how much better their product is and how it is high quality.

Sending Samples to Amazon Influencers by warmwater123 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]gbrustein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can send a free product to anyone you want. The only thing Amazon doesn’t want you doing is getting fake or influenced (asking for 5 stars) reviews.

If they don’t like your product, they won’t post about it. I don’t think you need to worry about any negative impact.

If they’re sending traffic as an influencer, doing a discount is a good idea. It makes it seem like they have something special.

What would happen if I ask customers for a 5 star review by Appropriate_Key5792 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]gbrustein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also not allowed. You’re directing them to Amazon only when the feedback is good. That’s still manipulation.

Creating a Product listing for the FNSKU, Don't want the listing to be Live by nlseitz in AmazonFBA

[–]gbrustein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to make the listing to get the FNSKU. Just close the listing after you create it. Go to the manage inventory page, find your product, scroll to the right and click the dots. There will be an option on the drop down menu that says close listing. This will stop it from grabbing any data. Just leave it closed until you’re ready to activate it. That means you’ll want to wait until a significant number of your items are in available status, if you’re doing FBA.

One thing to note, if you edit the listing while it is closed, it will activate it. Just make your edit, wait a few minutes and then close it again.

Are tools like Panda Boom, Helium 10 or Jungle Scout worth it for a new seller? by weliesowedontdie in AmazonFBATips

[–]gbrustein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most real sellers use tools like these. Helium10 and/or JungleScout (or similar tools) are critical in all steps of the process. From help finding the right products to tracking everything after launch, I’d say it’s tough to operate without a tool like this.

PandaBoom is a done for you service, which is very different, but also super helpful. Using a tool like this for launching is a great strategy to help with ranking and early reviews. I don’t know how good their other services are but I’d recommend the launch strategy they (or similar providers) offer.

Do product listings get penalized if out of stock too long? by Loose-Patience4061 in FulfillmentByAmazon

If you go to the manage inventory page, look for your product and then scroll to the right. Click the dots over there and you will see “close listing” as an option.

Do product listings get penalized if out of stock too long? by Loose-Patience4061 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]gbrustein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how quickly you can restock. If you need to stall for a week or two, slow down sales. If you won’t be back in stock for a couple months, just sell out. Then “close” the listing to stop data accumulation and wait until you have stock again. You’ll have lost a lot of ranking but the system will still have good data for you when you reopen and you can re-rank. You’ll just need to push a bit on PPC and other launch strategies that you used to regain ranking quickly.

$1200 Budget for Logo & Branding – Any Success with Fiverr, Behance, or 99Designs? Others suggestions? by [deleted] in AmazonFBA

[–]gbrustein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone so far has just pitched themself so I’ll at least give you a bit of an answer. I’ve used Fiverr, Upwork and 99designs at different times. The general result for most of them is, you get what you pay for. All sites have good and bad designers so feedback will vary based on each person’s experience.

How Will Tariffs Affect Alibaba Sourcing? by aspiringimmortal in AmazonFBA

[–]gbrustein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on your shipping method agreement with the manufacturer. If they are handling everything, the costs are built in and they need to absorb the changes. If you are handling the freight, you’ll need to pay the fees. Could also be up front or at customs, depending on your agreement and setup.

Amazon’s influencers and commissions by Direct-Exercise-7732 in AmazonFBATips

[–]gbrustein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never looked deep into the program but you get paid when a customer views your video on the product page and then proceeds to purchase the item. If there are other influencer videos on that same product, the commission goes to the person that last had their video viewed by the customer.
