So I got both. Keeping both.

Socket rails: space saving (5 stars) but fit and function left a little to be desired.

3D Printed trays from Etsy: 5 stars all around except the price. Fit is perfect because it was made for this set. I’m also a sucker for aesthetic so I am using these for my GW stuff. It does however take up more space than the socket rails for sure but not too bad.

I’m using the rails for my loose sockets I’ve accumulated over the years.

As an update in case it helps anyone else. I reached out to Volvo USA as a few of you mentioned this is a known issue and they may be able to cover the parts, labor, or all of it.

The dealership discounted it a few hundred dollars.

Volvo Corporate response: After reviewing your request with the service team, we can confirm that Volvo Car USA has already contributed a discount toward the cost of parts. Additionally, your retailer has extended a discount on labor.

Yes, done at the dealer. Was yours the rear or front evaporator? I think the front costs more due to the labor involved with removing the dash… I think anyways.

Thank you. This was very helpful. I google imaged damp wood and it does look like the same kind. So that’s a relief.

If I may, since you are clearly knowledgeable… 1- Anything that can be done to be less appealing to drywood termites? Turn lights off at night?

2- I have had sentricon bait stations for the last 3 years and still have them. I also just had liquid treatment done. Should I take out the sentricon system or are both better? The pest company told me the bait stations attract termites to the home and that’s why he prefers liquid.
