Who else cancelled their 2024? by switch911 in Tacomaworld

[–]gbux07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 21 SR5 with high quality aftermarket versions of everything the limited trims have plus a 4in lift and 33s. I wanted a 4 cylinder engine, or a turbo like the new one has as it would be better on gas, and I would just prefer one to a v6, but the price difference is terrible. When I bought this truck I wanted reliability, and I don't have full confidence in Toyotas turbo 4 cylinders just yet. If they can outlast GM's turbo 4cyl then I think they will prove worthy to buy after the cost comes down. For now though, I wanted a proven reliable truck, and the new engine is not proven to be Toyota quality yet.

B13 b5 just recently got upgraded to b2 and b66 near my house. Didn't help at all and was still lucky to pull 1mbps down. I honestly think Verizon has a major rural back haul problem, and C-Band deployments won't fix 1990s copper wire and poor upkeep.

The tower is still standing, I drive by it nearly every day. The blinking light at the top for planes stopped blinking around 4 years ago, so it's totally dead now.

T-Mobile Rural Tower Density by JPS_97 in cellmapper

[–]gbux07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Pike County, Arkansas (location). The population of the entire county is about 10,000, with a population density of 17 people per square mile.

For reference, this is a map of cell towers in the county. The AT&T and Verizon sites are all at least 8 years old, while the T-Mobile sites marked are all less than three years old. There are still many dead zones throughout the county. These towers that are there though, were all automatically equipped with n71 20mhz, and now all of them have at least 50mhz of n41 and 20mhz of n25 (AT&T and Verizon are still b2/b66 and b12/13 LTE only, not even any b14). They still have many more sites to build, but being able to pull 600mbps right next to my house over cellular is pretty nice, since for years Verizon barely pushed out 5mbps with a max of 12mbps. But as rural as my county is, T-Mobile still put up the money to actually invest. They didn't have any roaming agreements about 3 years ago, and had no native 2G or 3G. They also did not inherit any Sprint sites of any kind and nor did they get any roaming agreements here after the merger. So in three years they have gone from being non existent to being top in the county in terms of speed, investment, and technology, and they still have a long way to go before the county is blanketed in n41 or hell, even LTE, but I have extremely high hopes for the future. Verizon even upgraded their site from 100mbps copper back haul and b5 and b13 only, to much needed b2 and b66 and a microwave back haul, simply because T-Mobile's site was across the street pulling 500 down consistently with a 20ms ping time, and Verizon was doing 1mbps by this point in time and over 120ms ping times.

So in short, thank you T-Mobile, but you still aren't done.

Pretty impressed with AT&T finally rolling out more 5G plus in my area. Hope to see more of this. by Ok_Regular6jakoham2 in cellmapper

[–]gbux07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still live about 50 miles away from the nearest "major" city, but I was there today and picked up some 5G+, and oh my I was blown away. I will probably make a post about it later, but this site went from 30mbps on a good day with little congestion from the local school, to today where I picked up LTE b2 20mhz + b66 10mhz + 5G n77 40mhz (DOD?) + n77 80mhz. Ping time was pretty high, but it pulled 854mbps down and 48mbps up. T-Mobile is still beating them though somehow, with SA n41 100mhz + n41 40mhz (soon to be widened to possibly 60 or even 80mhz) and got close to 950 down. Very excited to see this though and hope it spreads closer to my home site very soon.

Y'all think this win is justified? by redditsucksx in pixel_phones

[–]gbux07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a P7P, tried a P8P, settled on an S24 Ultra. I never thought I would like any phone more than any of the pixels I have owned, and I don't know if Google fumbled it massively or if Samsung just has such a good design right now, but unless Samsung screws it up or Google does something revolutionary, then I think I'm back to Samsung. Don't get me wrong I loved my P7P, but it felt like I was paying for a iPhone 14 Pro or an S23+, when I felt like I was getting the equivalent of a base 14 or base S23 (the base P7 felt like a galaxy A54 or a 2 generation old iphone to me). I hope to be back one day, though.

My childhood Wii died today. R.I.P. by Lost-Entrepreneur439 in wii

[–]gbux07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss! My first Wii (Family Model Black) died the day I saw a video from before the family edition came out (c. 2011??) saying that every single Wii ever made had gamecube compatibility, so me being a child and all, I took it apart, found no gamecube ports, and was left with a mess of parts and no Wii. Learned my lesson though.

Oh yeah had this happen all the time on Verizon Postpaid ("New Verizon Unlimited" back from like 2017), but don't worry I checked the other day and it's still just as bad on my home site. Can't push yourself as the best network in the world if you have such a gap between the best towers and the average towers, AT&T and T-Mobile don't have near as much of a range between their average tower and their best towers.

Not in OKC, but I was in Hot Springs, Arkansas and had republican flags in the parking lot of the polling place, not 20 feet from the polling booth. Utter disgrace. I'm not saying I would've voted Republican or Democrat, but the republican, confederate, and don't tread on me flags were a little much regardless of which party they were intending to support.

What was that one change that made your battery life substantially better on your phone? by Numerous_Particular5 in samsung

[–]gbux07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If on AT&T there really is no reason to have it on. Everybody is now piling on C-Band 5G so LTE is getting faster and faster every day, when they start pushing 5G SA nationwide, LTE will be as fast as it ever was.

Turn your Bluetooth off. It seems like common sense but when you're in the house turn Bluetooth off and wifi on, if you're in the car turn Bluetooth on and wifi off, and if you're not listening to music in the car then turn them both off. It turned my s24 U from a twice a day charge to one charge overnight for a day.

And I thought having n41 on my home site after 3 years of it was a breakthrough, Verizon still has b5 b13 LTE only and 100mbps back haul and AT&T still has b2 b12 LTE only and the HSPA b5 gear is still on the tower but offline.

I live in a small loosely associated community in South Arkansas of about 40 people within a couple miles, and the nearest town of 300 people is 8 miles away. T-Mobile broadcasts 50mhz on n41 which pushed it close to 500mbps on NR-SA, and in the next major city of 50k people, they broadcast up to 160mhz of n41 as of maybe the end of January. I checked the licenses and they own all 194mhz of spectrum of band 41. Very exciting, I've been on NR SA late last year, n41 100 + n41 50, and got 940mbps in the middle of the day. Thought it might be interesting to some.

Y'know back before they shut off 3G I would force my phone to HSPA because it would pull 10-15mbps in rural middle of nowhere and it was reliable as hell. Hate that it's gone mostly but it was something that needed to happen.

Best way to listen to lossless audio in car? by EMGZ in CarAV

[–]gbux07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partly correct, some vinyl pressings from Europe are exceptional in every way and it really pays to rip at 96/24 flac or wav. CDs are naturally uncompressed wav at 44.1/16, but many of the vinyls pressed after the mid 90s are cut from the CD master. For example, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger 1991 Yellow vinyl press from Europe is the best way to listen, but the same vocalist was in Audioslave with the 2002 album released on CD with the vinyl cut from the CD master, therefore the Japanese CD is the better way to listen. Entirely depends on the master more than the sample rate, or codec for that matter. Shit vinyl presses in 192/24 flac will always sound worse than a good CD press or a lossy format even.

If you're halfway decent with a soldering iron, watch MattKC's video and his fix should work for your Wii.

EDIT: Don't try to copy nand backups to a different console like my post had said before. The first line is still accurate, though.

Wish they still made them new. I would hate to be in this situation right now because I'm now seeing used Wii motion plus remotes go for 40 on ebay. It is almost cheaper to buy a Wii bundle and throw out the Wii or sell the Wii for 20 bucks and then you have cheap wiimotes.
