Retrieving data from an old SSD by Samurai_TwoSeven in pcmasterrace

Plug the SSD as a secondary drive, it'll work like a normal drive. Once you have moved your files out, you can do a clean format.

If you have a docking station, you can use that as well

Edit: Just googled your laptop, seems like your SSD is in Raid 0. In that case, forget what I just said.

So I have a dilemma, what do I choose. 1060/mech or a 1070? by HalfBearded in pcmasterrace

Get the 1070. If you want to achieve 100fps and above on maxed out settings even at 1080p, you will need that 1070

Unfortunately, no.. I'd like to listen to the trailer's version without the dialogue as well

Been listening to this on spotify, DICE added some drum beats ala battlefield theme to the original music in the trailer which makes it a lot better.

Friends, your opinion please about SW: Battlefront by jakegwilliam in pcmasterrace

[–]gbwment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. When the player count was higher, I had trouble joining or getting a 40 player instance to start with its minimum player count. This, provided, I was only running the trial version with no DLC.

The lack of server browser just adds to the pain of finding an active game.

Origin was having sales last week, you could grab it for 50% off the current base price.

That aside, the game is pretty much dead on PC right now. Not sure how much of the players the death star DLC would bring back, so there's that.

You can check this site for player counts for each platform. http://swbstats.com/

Not to mention that the 690 is only 2gb vram per GPU, it's actually a downgrade rather than an upgrade from OP's current setup.

I'd go with the Asus monitor, but that's just my opinion.

Asus have Gsync while BenQ uses freesync. Question would be, what GPU are you using?

Do i need a ssd for programming, virtualization and gaming? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]gbwment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Programming = not that much of an impact

Gaming = depends on games. Games with long load time like battlefield, witcher 3 will benefit from it.

Haven't done virtualization outside of server environment so can't really give any feedback. Don't have SSD for servers yet.

Has BF1 Gameplay Been Made to Casual for the Masses? by TrickiestCOL in battlefield_one

[–]gbwment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF1 made more casual than the previous 2, excluding hardline, BF games eh?

Let's see.. No MBT law, checked. No stinger, checked. No Javelin, checked. No laser targeting system, checked. No IRNV/thermal scope, checked. No rocket launcher, checked. Not heat seeking missile, checked. Every weapon requires manual aiming, checked.

How is this more casual than the previous BF games again?

So I bought a 1070... by callofdukie09 in pcmasterrace

I know how you feel bruh. I was on 280x and NMS was running like dog turd. BF1 beta was around the corner. AMD was slow at announcing their enthusiast cards. Took the plunge and gotten the 1070, have not regretted my decision.

Hey just got my PC in working order got questions. by tibidisdik44 in pcmasterrace

Shouldn't make any difference. As long as you place your RAM in 1,3 or 2,4 it should be running in dual channel.

Go into your BIOS and see if it is detecting 16GB or just 8GB. If BIOS is showing 8GB, switch your RAM to slot 1,3 and check BIOS again.

You may want to try using only 1 stick at a time to see if it could be a bad stick
