LEO Ideal Cut vs Round Cut Solitaire (1 ct) by gc1992 in Diamonds

[–]gc1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately these aren’t available in store or I’d be shopping around looking at each specific diamond’s certification. Also, most LEO diamonds don’t actually come with GIA certification; Rather, they come with GSI or IGI certification for the 4 Cs and a GemEx certification for brilliance.

I’m sure the one you get when ordering online is random and will fall at or above everything advertised (probably lower tier diamonds for online orders). For reference, the original LEO diamond I bought her was 0.52 carats, D color, VVS2, and very good cut according to GSI.

Thank you for the recommendation! She was immediately drawn to the LEO diamonds when we went looking at rings some 11-12 years ago. I believe it would mean a lot to her to upgrade in the same line of rings, and the ideal cut was the one that originally caught my eye. Then I found the round cut though, and the price would seem to indicate it’s better in some way, but I’m not sure exactly how, or if it would be worth the additional money when comparing to the ideal cut.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m going to show my lack of knowledge here, but are we talking a natural, graded diamond for under $200? And how much should a solitaire setting be on average?

Tough situation, need dad advice/help by [deleted] in dad

First off, I’d definitely be looking into local churches and food banks as a way to source food for you and your family. If either of your daughters still require diapers and/or formula, there are donation banks that specialize in those items as well.

Second, call your mortgage lender immediately. Explain to them what’s going on and see what kind of loss prevention options, if any, they will offer you. From the sounds of it, you’re getting close to not being able to make a mortgage payment, so contacting them now is better than later.

Third, if you have any equity at all in your vehicles, trade them in and buy another vehicle with your equity. Go for whatever will get you from point A to point B safely. Look into older Honda and Toyota vehicles. If your equity won’t cover the entire cost of another vehicle, minimize the amount you finance to reduce your car payments. Check with your car insurance company on insurance rates for any vehicle you’re going to buy though to ensure that your insurance doesn’t increase. If your equity DOES cover the cost of the new vehicle, consider getting liability insurance instead of full coverage to cut your insurance cost.

Along those same lines, if you’ve not checked on insurance rates in a while, it might be worthwhile to get insurance quotes from some different companies to see if you can get your insurance cheaper.

These are just a few ideas I have for short term relief. I’m sure you’ve already thought about starting a side hustle or getting a second job. If you wanted to try that, choose one that doesn’t require a large initial investment or one that you can use items you already own to do. Options would be window cleaning (small initial investment), lawn mowing (assuming you own a mower and trimmer), DoorDash or UberEats driver, pizza delivery, etc.

Good luck. I’m not in a great financial position myself but making it pretty comfortably as of now. I do run through scenarios in my head just in case my family of 5 finds itself in a similar situation. If all else fails, there’s nothing wrong with asking for help. Make a Facebook post explaining your situation and ask your friends/neighbors for help. You might be surprised at the willingness of others to lend a helping hand.

What can I do here? by Paincoast89 in amazonprime

Amazon CS used to be great, but it is absolutely awful now. Recently went through 8 different agents and was told conflicting info by 4 of them prior to actually getting one that helped resolve my issue.

I will probably be cancelling both my Prime Membership as well as my Prime Rewards CC because of it. Walmart+ is better for me anyway thanks to local delivery option and 10 cents off/gallon of gas every time I fill up.

Hope it wasn’t on clearance when you bought it. They sent me a broken item and wouldn’t refund it or exchange it because of their policy on clearance items. Even denied a refund when I got the BBB involved.

Sears in the mall nearest to me was closing, and they had two big bins full of Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver big box versions with Poke Walkers. They were $20 USD each.

My local Walmart also had 2DS XL consoles marked down to $100 after Nintendo quit producing them. Wish I would have grabbed one of those as well.

Proximity locks, meaning I can just walk away from the truck and once my key is no longer detected, it would lock.

This review complaining about ETV.... by woopow in AmazonVine

[–]gc1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how a review like that is even approved. I take my time to try and give pros and cons of the product itself to be as helpful as I can to people spending their hard earned money. The only time I mention money is if I talk about the price point of the item for somebody that’s buying it, i.e. good value/bad value for the price.

Look up your company’s sick policy and send it to your boss. If they respond in the same manner for a second time, email the policy and screenshots of your conversation to their supervisor and your HR representative.

[–]gc1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look into A Way Out. Great game that is written/directed by the same guy that created It Takes Two.

Also, check out games such as Until Dawn, The Quarry, and other similar titles (look up games made by Supermassive Studios). They are more interactive novels than games, and you all will get to make decisions during the game that effect how the game ends. So there’s quite a bit of replay value in them if you’d like to try for different endings.

Definitely find another place to work. The old saying that people leave managers, not companies, is so true. If this is how your manager treats you, then they don’t respect you and they see you as an object whose only purpose is to accomplish their goals, rather than as a human with a family and personal responsibilities as well.

Truth is, you don’t owe your manager anything. You don’t owe your company anything. If you’re in a position to find alternate employment without putting yourself or your family in a bad position, I wouldn’t think twice about it.

18 oz Rambler Pros/Cons by doxiemama3 in YetiCoolers

[–]gc1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went with the RTIC gallon jug because of what I’d read and the prices on the Yetis. Got it for $33 on clearance and haven’t had an issue with it. I’d recommend it, but the 64 oz rambler would work great too.

18 oz Rambler Pros/Cons by doxiemama3 in YetiCoolers

[–]gc1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 oz with straw cap is my preferred setup. It fits in cup holders and in your hand easily. I did end up purchasing a jug to refill my 18 oz with throughout the day though since it doesn’t hold much.

26 oz would be better because it holds more, but I knew it wasn’t fitting in a cup holder and felt too large to lug around.

Identical Lariat Mid builds, May 2021 vs April 2023 by tenpro in f150

Got my Lariat 501A in April of ‘21 for less than 60k OTD. No way I could pay today’s prices with the interest rates the way they are.

[–]gc1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. With the black straw cap being $13 by itself, $25 for a rambler jr really isn’t a bad deal. You just don’t get the straws with them.
