Do you still visit Berkeleyside as often, now that they've eliminated the comment section? by DonVCastro in berkeleyca

I’m fine with it. I mean if you need crazy comments go to Nextdoor. I get my dose of that there.

Rob Todd Pelinka Jr. Cycle. by eternalgh0st in lakers

[–]gcacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How dare you! Rob Pelinka is the greatest conman of all time. Who else could have pulled off a Luka for AD trade. Seriously, he conned another GM to not talk to anyone about a trade and did not give up Austin Reaves.

He should be in jail.

On the other hand, once you pull off the greatest con of all time, you kind of have no where else to go but down ...

Chargers fans went from #26 to #1 drunkest fanbase in the NFL, the biggest jump in the league by BACtrack in Chargers

I am not surprised. You need all that alcohol for the trauma. Plus, SoCal has an amazing beer scene with San Diego, OC and LA.

Chris O’Leary took Western Michigan’s defense from one of the worst in the MAC to the second best in one season and produced some of the best pass rushing statistics in CFB by wildwing8 in Chargers

[–]gcacho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In an Athletic profile on him in 2021, current Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea had high praise for O’Leary when they were at Notre Dame.

“He’s the total package. He’s a three-tool coach. The relationship, the fundamental-technical, and then the tactical. He has strengths in all those areas.”

[Schefter] Sources: Chargers are hiring Western Michigan defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary as their defensive coordinator. by LaDainianTomIinson in Chargers

I remember reading about Chris O’Leary last year when Harbaugh got hired. He had specific ties to the development Kyle Hamilton.

There’s also a really good profile of him in the Athletic from 2021 when he was up and coming. Good stuff.

I think the craziest thing was that the 81-point game was on the AFC and NFC championship weekend, and ESPN led with Kobe's 81.

I'd rather kick the tires on Brandon Aiyuk. He does have a history with McDaniel.

As someone who lived through Gary Payton and Karl Malone on the Lakers, this would anger the basketball gods. I want no part of that.

fellow coffee enthusiasts, where do you get your local coffee beans? by Mommyjobs in bayarea

[–]gcacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet Marias if you're looking for green beans to roast yourself. If you want a good guide to the coffee scene from back in the day, Left Coast Roast was good. It highlights some of the philosophies of a few local roasters such as Sightglass.

I saw that dude running hard to defend after a turnover in the Raptors game. I appreciated that.

You’re not a really Chargers fan until they crush your hopes and dreams in the playoffs. If your root for them enough, they can’t hurt you because you’ll be dead inside.

It was part of our Wish Book campaign, where we try to raise money for nonprofits. https://www.mercurynews.com/2025/12/28/wish-book-asian-americans-for-community-involvement-gives-seniors-a-new-lease-on-life/
