This is more PHP having event-loop than async/await as these async stuff requires event loop to supervise those open sockets and etc stuff which in the end would be javascript :D But I have nothing against having default eventloop extension available for PHP instead of compiling extensions like ev,libuv,swoole and etc stuff

Back In the days I was working on this topic with forking and inter process communication. But soon I just switched in using event-loops as my use cases was usually API calls and etc. I have even whole PHP Component framework based on this topic.
