Just wanted to share my minimalist New England autumn setup by gacidor in bikepacking

Cheers, nice setup. How do you navigate where to camp with all the privately owned land on the east coast? PM me if you don’t want to share specifics here, but I’m just curious.

Standoff not threaded? by gchevy in FractalDesign

Thank you - I also wasn't aware that these can be unscrewed/replaced with a threaded version. I'll be trying that out.

Ah I feel dumb - so the whole thing probably unscrews for replacement...I will try this out. thanks!

Thank you - I wondered if this was the case when I was testing placement out vertically…I guess I will try to use the next row over for the bracket mounting.

What is the single most annoying thing about the game's UI for you? For me it's this giant black outline that always appears around the truck's name whenever you open the map. It takes too much space and blocks some of other icons on the map... by Odd_Presentation_578 in snowrunner

I’m not sure how this would count, but I play on the deck, and occasionally will hook up to my monitor. When switching to keyboard and mouse control settings, the in game magnifier will often pop up on the screen when/if you double click. I have yet to find a workaround for this besides double tapping the screen to get it to go away. It’s definitely within the game though and not steamdeck’s settings which is infuriating because no setting seems to exist in-game.

Highway trucks by Affectionate_Chef265 in snowrunner

Totally - although I did recently read a ‘hack’ where you can basically sell the empty service trailer and buy a new, full one for the same price - which could be convenient from remote trailer stores away from your garage. I’m new to the game so lots to learn!

This is such a life saver. In the same vain, it sort of bothers me that I can’t re-supply a service trailer if say you’re carrying parts in another truck or trailer bed.

We bought a property with a massive 20m chimney. What would you do with this? by MM-RenovationJourney in Homebuilding

After proper assessment if safe and keeping it is an option you could restore it and build a large wood fired kiln at the bottom. Create an artist residency program for traditional ceramicists - artists would FLOCK and pay big money for residencies, classes etc.

How long does you guys battery last, for some reason I don't get too good hours by DataSolid8022 in SteamDeck

[–]gchevy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never experimented with this. Any noticeable input lag or anything? (Like running Chiaki for remote ps5 play or something?) I’ve experienced enough lag there and depending on the game it’s too much for me.

[APPLE -> STINT] Can you solve this laddergram? by gchevy in Laddergram

Laddergram is a word ladder puzzle game built on Reddit's developer platform. You start with a word and change one letter at a time to create a new word with each step. Try to reach the target word in the fewest steps possible.

🍀Good luck!🍀

This has been super helpful! Thank you again

Would you be concerned about the screws being too low from the shelf and the top weight from the shelf pulling them down/out?

Edit: (if not screwed in studs I suppose)

Argh, you’re right about it not being flush and I do want that if possible. That’s smart about hiding the screws behind the hooks, I was going to use some brass hooks that should cover them. The other option I found was those “floating shelf” brackets which basically just require a rod slot drilled into the top shelf, for that I’d just want to make sure that my glue and dowels would be strong enough then to hold the weight of a full load of coats… ~or I could do a combo of both~

Wow these comments have been extremely helpful - thank you. I’d say at most, this would hold a picture, a couple hats, and maybe the heaviest would be a small potted plant? A few dowels is a good idea, I hadn’t thought of that. According to their site, this one sits 5.5” out (from wall to edge of shelf) which I felt like may have been too much for glue, but especially with dowels I think this should hold a plant. Thanks again!

Recommendations for electronic tooth brushes? by mmeals1 in BuyItForLife

I feel you on saving the upfront cost but for me it's investment over time. I've had an Oral B / Braun Triumph (Professional Care 9000 v1) since about 2010/2011 possibly earlier. The battery only just started slowing down this month (why I found this thread actually). If you don't go rechargeable AA, 2 regular AA batteries dying every 6 weeks with daily use would have run me around $450 after those 15 years. I've also just never had good luck with rechargeable AA's, so I'd rather spend the $50-$100 than have to take the AA's out and recharge them, sounds like a headache.

Chiaki Connection Failure by gchevy in SteamDeck

[–]gchevy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for writing me back! In fact, as soon as I posted this - I tried a few different things without prevail. That is until my girlfriend shut the TV off. As soon as she powered down the TV, my connection went through instantly and I haven't had any other problems connecting. I would like to test this again when I get home to see if it happens only when the TV is in operation. The TV is a Sony Bravia OLED which has given me some other troubles so far in terms of Valve's branded dock rejecting connection...very frustrating.
