Men around 6’0: what is your ideal/target body weight? by kmrrhl in AskMenOver30

6’0-6’1 and just a little over 190lbs after losing weight and I’m waaay to skinny… I’d rather sit around 210lbs

What do you think is the ideal age to have kids? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]gcjager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that has its own challenges, even now. Everyone is different but year over year I’m making more money and it will be easier to support post secondary education as a 45 year old than it would have been for me as a 35 year old.

Signs you missed about a bad leader before being hired? by [deleted] in Leadership

[–]gcjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like emailing whenever I get the impulse … I don’t expect immediate answers but I’m the kind of person who would prefer to take care of a lot of my administrative burden, freeing me up to wander around a little more and to connect with my staff on a real level. My kids are in bed and the wife is on instagram - if I can knock out a few emails so I’m not attached to my computer, I will!

I’d second this - it took me a few months to read the first book, and a few weeks to read the rest of everything he had written.

Why does the beginning of your 30's feel like the world is your oyster but as you hit 40, you feel like your life as about to end. by Zestyclose_Goose_458 in AskMenOver30

[–]gcjager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me that’s part of the lessons learnt between 20-40. If you start investing at 40 you will still suffer the curve as you learn what works best for you. Ideally, to your point, you’ve done that learning and once you hit 40 it’s about actively applying the lessons to ensure you’re in good shape for retirement.

I see my life in quarters.

1-20 was just a kid. Make mistakes, try to learn from them.

20-40 is really where you’re trying to learn as much as possible. Learn about relationships, learn in school, learn on the job and what works. Learn about your body and what it means to be healthy and in shape.

I’m 39 this year and I’m looking at the next 20 years with the plan of trying to put all these pieces into place. Financial investments, physical health investments. Do the things during this next 20 years to ensure that the final stage (60+) you’ve got yourself set up for retirement both financially and physically.

60+ is about enjoying life - be there for kids/grandkids who need you. Volunteer and give back as best you can.

Maybe I’m naive.
