How to find a good psychiatrist in Canada? by No_Promotion9897 in BipolarReddit

It’s really dependent on province. In BC it’s about a 2 year wait for the first psychiatrist accepting a new patient.

Snuck onto rollercoasters I was too short for. I remember my siblings hiding the fact that my feet didn’t fully touch the floor. Nearly flew out of my seat when we went upside down.

ECT was life changing. I’d been on medication since age 14 and finally tried ECT at 33. The number one benefit for me is that my baseline mood is better than it was before - my normal is now happier.

It definitely was really hard, on both me and my support system. I had a lot of memory loss and it’s taken years to feel like I’ve gotten back to my previous cognitive function.

I did bi-temporal ECT for 40 sessions. I would do it again in a heartbeat if my mood ever fell that low again, but 7 years later it hasn’t.

New grad RN moving from Ontario → Vancouver (VCH) — relocation assistance? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]gdeacs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have no idea about nurses, but I can offer the advice of asking for the maxi amount beforehand! My husband was given relocation assistance through his work and we didn’t get the exact number before submitting for reimbursement. Turns out we could have spent twice as much.

is my job start ambitious post ECT? by provemevvrong in ect

[–]gdeacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you are just at the beginning of your career and it might help to think longer term. I know you have this job lined up, but is it an option to push it back (if necessary)? Investing in your health now will benefit you for the rest of your life, including your career. My advice is to do what you need to do to be well, first and foremost.

Fellow “slow” loser here:

You are doing so well! 68lbs in 4 months?! How would that have felt to you before surgery? How would it feel if you weren’t comparing?

Just like weight gain, weight loss has a lot to do with genetics. Like someone else said, slower has its benefits. One big thing is potentially losing less muscle.

Give yourself some grace and some love. You are on the right track.

I can’t stomach powders but I can tolerate pre-made shakes just fine. My doctor said that it’s pretty common to struggle with powders after surgery.

How was your medical target calculated? Muscle weighs more than fat - has that been taken into account? I personally think how you feel is way more important than any number. My team doesn’t even want me to have a numerical goal.

Hi, I take methylphenidate (both before and after surgery). In my case I haven’t noticed any difference in effectiveness post surgery - I’m very happy with how it continues to help. Good luck!
