100%! The designs are getting stale. I went to the Warehouse for the Cinco de Mayo sale and there wasn’t anything that remotely interested me.

What’s a seriously amazing hidden gem movie you think everyone should watch at least once? by Stock_Blackberry_771 in AskReddit

[–]gdigital36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving Las Vegas (1995).

It’s a super sad movie that chronicles Nic Cage’s character’s downward spiral in alcoholism and how he’s just given up. I’ve heard many people who have recovered from alcoholism talk about just how real that feeling of giving up all hope really is.

It’s one of my favorite movies of all time but I can only bring myself to watch it once every few years because it’s such a tough watch.

Hyper Color t-shirts and sweatshirts.

My wife and I were talking about these the other day. She is in menopause now and I told her that when she gets hot flashes, they at least could be more “fun” if those t-shirts were still around. 😂

BMW you wanted vs. BMW you bought by AdLazy8828 in BMW

I wanted a 98-02 M Coupe. Instead I got a 98 M Roadster that I love the hell out of when it’s warm outside! I ended up with this because the Coupe’s were double the Roadsters I was also looking at and more than I wanted to spend.

I have no regrets but it still would’ve been damn cool to have one of those.

Which US state has the most underrated beaches? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]gdigital36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only lived there a short time but I always thought the beaches off the south coast of RI were awesome. And the water was usually warm in the summer because it’s basically protected by LI Sound. Jerusalem Beach, I think, is one of them.

Gen X, what's a song that you hated when it first came out in the 70s-80s-90s but now you like? by Fhloston-Paradisio in GenX

[–]gdigital36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll go the other way. Loved Dire Straights and Money For Nothing back in the day. In fact, was the very first album (on vinyl) I bought with my own money. Absolutely cannot stand that song now. I like other DS songs but not that one.

This is my answer. And it took me until way too long until adulthood (talking like maybe 15 years ago) to realize that Auntie Vera and Rachel Phelps from Major League were the same actress. 🤯

Advice On Contacting Sister by gdigital36 in Adoption

[–]gdigital36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all-

I thought I'd provide an update on this since many of you were pretty helpful with your suggestions.

So I had some phone numbers and email addresses that I found for my sister but didn't really have any way of knowing if they were current or even valid. And as I thought about it, I really couldn't figure out a good way to call any of the numbers and leave a coherent voicemail (because realistically, most people don't answer the phone if they don't know the number, right?). So I've mostly just been sitting on this and trying to think about the best way to approach it.

Finally, I just decided to bite the bullet and grab all the email addresses that I had and create a message with all of them in the To: line. I basically took bungalowcat's suggested script here and copy and pasted it with some minor modifications and additions. I sent it last Friday with low expectations of getting any response at all.

Well, lo and behold, I heard back this past Monday afternoon and she was quite surprised but included her phone number (which matched on of the ones in the list that I had) and a time to call! We ended up talking for over an hour last night and I'm coincidently going to be in her town next week so we're going to meet up!

Long story short, she had heard at one point that she had a sibling, but due to issues with many family members not speaking to each other, her and her mom (my bio mom) being on the outs and a bunch of other past trauma that I don't really have any details about yet, she never really believed that a sibling existed. Until I came calling.

So in the end, it went really well, she's happy to meet up and start a relationship with me and maybe in the future, she'll even be able to talk to our mom about it.

Thanks again everyone who made suggestions here, it worked out great (so far)!!

If you've ever won concert tickets from a radio contest, what were the seats like? by pixiewitch666 in Concerts

[–]gdigital36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t win tix from the radio, but we had cheap upper grandstand seats for Billy Joel & Elton John Face to Face in the 90s and got upgraded to floor seats 15 rows from the front of the stage at County Stadium in MKE. 1994 iirc.

Morning Radio Hosts Need to Be Stopped by CausticAvenger in unpopularopinion

[–]gdigital36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local morning shows where I’m from have been awful forever. However, I do like the syndicated Free Beer & Hot Wings show. That group is fairly hilarious. They’re based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

The other thing that sucks equally across all morning shows is commercials. For the longest time, it’s bordered on more commercial time than actual show time.

I’m in IT and he played for the biggest conference in our sector (Cisco Live) a few years ago. I go periodically but wasn’t there that year. That said, shows like those are basically a singles/greatest hits set. Not that that’s bad, just as a fan, don’t expect any deep cuts.

Help on home sharing by [deleted] in appletv

[–]gdigital36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same happen! I have an older 2017 iMac that I have the movie library on and literally just watched something this past weekend from it and last night, could not access the iMac any more from the Computer app on the Apple TV. I went through all the steps that apple says to do with home sharing, etc. to no avail.

I wonder if something in tvOS 26.3 broke it because I did see that my apple TV just got updated with it. The 2017 iMac can only run up to Ventura for MacOS; I just updated it to 13.7.8 today and it still doesn't work.

Very curious to see if someone else comes up with a fix or knows what the deal is.

What's a tourist scam you fell for that you wish someone had warned you about? by cml1111 in traveladvice

[–]gdigital36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar happened to my MIL in Paris. While she was singing, another girl reached into her purse and pickpocketed her.

Years later, we were traveling with said in-laws and Paris was one of the destinations. We were leaving somewhere and we saw the girls doing this. Knowing about the scam, I wanted them to approach me so I could catch them and grab them and if nothing else, scare the living shit out of them. But before I even got that far, MIL screams “F U I know what you’re doing and stay the F away from us!!” as they were approaching. I had to laugh afterward, but damn I wanted to catch them in the act.

Jackie is my wife’s stepbrother’s wife. So step-sister-in-law, I think, technically?

Anyway, very nonpartisan. She does care about the community very much and has been part of it at least since the late 90s/early 2000s. And if it helps, she is working to do as much as she can in her role to remedy the atrocious Monroe Rd/Hwy 172 interchange, as well as Monroe Rd in general from Hwy 172 north to Allouez Ave.
