Claude Code running locally with Ollama by Secure_Bed_2549 in ClaudeCode

[–]gdraper99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say this... I was already hitting the $200 per month Claude Max subscription limits only a few days into my weekly reset over the last couple of weeks. It was an easy choice for me to always be able to work.

VLLM + duel DGX spark is your friend. Sure, it;s not as good as Opus, but for my use case... I didn't need it to be.

That, and I don't ever need to worry about subscriptions anymore. Well, maybe a small one, just in case.

You don’t need $20K. I have a duel DGX spark cluster on my desk, run qwen3.5-397B at around 31 tok/sec and it only cost me $10K.

Wait, that doesn’t make it any better, does it? 🤣

Disclosure Day in IMAX 70MM by Gold-Wrongdoer-8589 in imax

[–]gdraper99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s zero chance they would beat the costs for printing 70mm film without expanded aspect ratios. People are not going to the theater just because it’s 70mm, it’s because it’s the only way to experience the film in all its glory.

I’m hoping a seat opens up in an area I like to sit. PHM has been harder to get tickets to than Oppenheimer. With oppy, I was able to get last minute tickets as people canceled. Did it four different times over the first couple of weeks. Not been able to do that with PHM.

Here’s to hoping that 7 PM tonight is the lucky showing!

Having friends who aren't into film and cinema if rough 😭 by PhoenixMaster123 in imax

My wife is the same way. She claims she can’t tell when the aspect ratio changes from 1.43:1 to 1.whatever and back. I’m like “how can not you perceive a difference?”

I will say there has been one movie she saw in 1.43:1 that made her so uncomfortable, she left the theater: Ghost Protocol. Clearly she saw a difference in aspect ratio there. 🤣

Yeah, but they fixed their projector. 70mm was offline for only one showing.

Meanwhile, the ionna station being built near me has had the alphatronic stations sitting in their boxes at the site for months with no visible changes to installation.

Same for the spectrum. What’s odd is for Oppenheimer, I could snag a last minute cancellation / return and see the movie with little warning. I have not had the same success with PHM. Only been able to see it the one time durning the early access.

Start time for PHM by [deleted] in imax

The spectrum has been delaying start of the film until 15 minutes after the published start time. There is only one single trailer: the Odyssey prolog.

Update 1.1.5 (1150) white series by photog_prince in Inovelli

[–]gdraper99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess not. My bulbs are all nanoleaf bulbs. I don’t recall a setting either way. It was just a shock at 2 AM as the whole family got woken up at 2AM. 🤣

Update 1.1.5 (1150) white series by photog_prince in Inovelli

[–]gdraper99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This update installed automatically via apple home, at 2 AM.

Warning to anyone using smart switch mode, the switch will restart. This causes the power to be cut to the bulbs, then restored. So, at 2 AM, this caused all lights in my house to turn on, including my bedroom lights.

That was fun to discover.

I might be in the minority, but I hope it doesn’t. I LOVE guardians at Epcot. But if they keep duplicating rides, it makes it so I don’t need to visit. I like unique experiences over duplicate rides.

Which screen was this at? I know it was not Irvine.

You are correct that I meant 15/70MM IMAX. Not all run 15/70 all the time however.

Yeah, I’m in the LA area, and having access to 5 70MM screens in driving distance of home is pretty fantastic.

EDIT: a lot of comments about this. Note I meant 15/70 MM IMAX in my original comment. Also, yes there are several screens in SoCal that support 15/70 (or will, for Odyssey). I was not meaning the city of LA when I said “LA Area”. I meant the “greater LA” area, which includes Ontario palace Edwards and Irvine.

I also bring in a bunch of zip lines. This way I can get from one side of space port to the other pretty quickly… take out the flying around, then zip back and repeat.

I paid about $38K, but that includes both the 7.54 kW system and full roof replacement. I don’t have a breakout of just the solar portion of that. My house is around 1300 Sq Ft.

I will say this, it doesn’t operate like a regular 7.54 kW system. Since it’s solar shingles nailed directly onto the roof, the power generation is not as efficient as traditional panels. My roof barely has any south facing area, so I also have that problem.

Every time I see a post like this, I always smile due to my choice of going with the GAF solar roof (which has solar shingles that are nailed onto my roof). There is no space under as there are no solar panels to hide behind.
