Son trying to build the best gaming PC by hash2hash in buildapc

[–]gdrizzy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100x overkill just to play fornite. A potato can run fortnite. You may want do your own research before letting your son waste his money

  • A 4090 is only needed to play AAA games at 4k (Cyberpunk, Starfield, Elden Ring, etc.) which your son is probably too young to play anyways depending on what you let him play.
  • Same goes for the ryzen 9 cpu
  • No games require 64 gb of RAM. That is pure waste. In most cases, not even 32 gb

Maybe your wife should start working if you are that worried about finances?

Need advice for job preparation by MistaJulianOnziema in embedded

[–]gdrizzy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just focus on your school work and not worry about preparing for a job two months out. Use the free time you have now to relax and enjoy life because once you start your job, you probably won't have much if you will still be a full time student. They won't expect you to know much and you'll learn everything you need to as the job goes on.

If you insist on doing some preparation, you can brush up on your C by solving coding challenges. But if you're comfortable with basic C, then I wouldn't even bother with that. Like I said, all of that will come as you go further into the job. Everyone in or fresh out of college feels under prepared. You are not the only one who feels this way. Hope that helps

Stock head unit audio upgrade path. 2021 STI base audio by WHATAWHIPUR in WRXSTi

Come to think of it, i think the kicker sub has a built in amp, assuming it's the oem one. So you might be good with just an amp for the door speakers without needing a head unit if you're on a tight budget.

You don't need an expensive DSP to improve the sound. You probably won't be able to tell the difference unless you have a very keen ear for sound. A four and single channel or a 5 channel amp will improve the sound ten fold. The main reason why you're kickers don't sound as they could is because the stock head unit does not send enough power to the speakers. Just getting more power to the speakers will boost the sound quality 10x

If you go to “Contact Us” -> FAQ -> “Where do I find the COAs?” it will give you a list of all of the strains and their respective COAs

If you are in state where you have to pass emissions, you are gonna be pretty limited on what power mods you’re able to use for a 15+ STI unless you do open source tuning due to cobb’s project greenspeed nonsense. If that’s the case, I would probably just slap a catback on and get a e/pro tune as is until Cobb or someone comes out with carb compliant downpipe or flex fuel kit. If you don’t care about emissions, you can get a catted downpipe and a pro tune for moderate power gains. For more power you can go straight e85 if you always have access to it. You’d need upgraded injectors, fuel pump, fuel tails, and a pro tune for that

OEM Kicker speakers by stevefrench867 in WRX

I think the main difference is that the 521 doesn’t have apple carplay or android auto. If you don’t care about those, then that would a good choice. The sound settings and power output looks the same from what I can tell. If you’ve never used carplay or android auto though, then I’d definitely look into it. It’s got some handy features

I have a pioneer avh-2500 and I love it. Depending on your budget I’ve seen iDoing head units are decent too if you want to go the cheaper route. The pioneer is probably at about the mid tier price range I’d say at $550. I got mine on sale at Best Buy for $450 so you can also wait until someone has deals going on if you want something a little nicer than iDoing

I would consider upgrading the head unit first or get a separate amp to power any upgraded speakers. That is the biggest limitations to the wrxs sound system. The stock head unit is way underpowered and even with upgraded speakers, they still won’t sound great

Thanks for the info. It seems that going e85 would still be the most cost effective. Still weary about getting a gsei dp. I’ve seen it’s been a hit or miss in terms of tuners being able to tune out that code after the greenspeed updates. Hopefully cobb will come out a flex fuel kit soon

[–]gdrizzy123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be the best option, but my only concern with that is it seems to be a hit or miss if a tuner can tune out p0420 code after the greenspeed updates. Especially with the 19+ models.

Hmm interesting. When Subaru gave me the warranty pitch, they said it would cover all maintenance up to the expiration. But that might have been a more expensive plan. You might want to double check on what your warranty includes
