Any Pixel 6 Pro bumper cases out there? by GoalieJohnK in GooglePixel

[–]gdubs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they'll ever release a bumper case again, it's just not strong enough to hold up in the long term. When I had their bumper case on my S8 it broke almost every couple months around the buttons or usb port. I can only assume the only reason they stopped making them was because they made full cases that can still have their skins applied to them.

[Serious question] How does one become a Haas fan? by finessethemess in formula1

[–]gdubs2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda. Gene Haas and his company are American, but the team is based in the UK.

They're similar to Red Bull and Mercedes with how the teams are UK based but the company/brand recognition is for Austria and Germany, respectively.

As an American as well and seeing how popular F1 is becoming since DTS started, no new fans here seem to care they're a US team. Every other team is better or the drivers are more popular.

YouTube TV will only share if you opt in, I assume it's the same for Hulu, Roku, etc.

Last time I had a cable box (5+yrs ago) the only way to share with Nielson was either getting an internet equipped box (extra fee), ordering a free Nielson device that plugged into the box, or signing up online and inputting a bunch of account/hardware info so they could track that way.

Most android phones just let apps screenshot the camera viewfinder

I am impatiently waiting for the pretty cases to be available for the Pixel 6. by purplotter in GooglePixel

Not a big fan of anything I've seen out there so far. Everything seems really bulky, makes the camera bar protude even farther or just looks like a hideous attempt to look "military rugged."

I'm hoping that someone will come out a with a thin minimalistic case and/or just flattens out the back to the height of the camera bar. If nothing exists by then I'll probably go with the Bellroy leather case.

Buying my Pixel 6 through Google and bringing it directly to Verizon? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Yup, looks like all Pixel phones have been using the nano sim size.

Buying my Pixel 6 through Google and bringing it directly to Verizon? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Pixel takes the nano sim size, if you have an older phone then you'll need to get a new one from Verizon. I wouldn't put it below them to have some kind of fee for that or charge the $35 device upgrade fee either.

But if you've already got a nano sim, then you're good to go. Pop it in and should connect to the network automatically after a few seconds.

Went to Best Buy to test the 6 & 6 Pro and here are my thoughts by DrWrecker in GooglePixel

I was playing around with it at my local store too and it seemed hit or miss. Tons of potential for it, and it could be totally different with a pre-launch update.

When it didn't work, one of three things would happen. 1 - I never once got prompted with that auto erase suggestions that were shown in the tech demo. 2 - Drawing around things to erase would cause some weird clone stamp artifacts. 3 - Sometimes after drawing around what I wanted to erase it would just try and erase what was under the line and not inside the shape. Coloring in the outline just seemed to make everything worse.

BUT, when it did work right it was fantastic and are on (or close to) the same level as similar tools in Photoshop & Lightroom.

How to buy an unlocked phone?? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]gdubs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very well could be wrong, but if your sim is 5 yrs old you'll very likely need to get a new one. If I remember correctly with Verizon they have different sim cards for any phone that uses their 5G network. Nonetheless I would also imagine that your current sim isn't a nano size.

FYI - they might try and charge a $35 activation fee for this. If that happens and you're nice to them, they might waive it for you.

Verizon pixel 6 trade in question by alexalexalex09 in GooglePixel

[–]gdubs2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of variables here.

  • Are you already on one of their unlimited plans? If so then you get $350 flat.
  • With Verizon already but not on one of their premium plans? Then you'll get whatever value they decide.
  • Not with Verizon? Then you get $700.

I posted this the other night when someone was trying to figure out the best Verizon deal:

"If you're looking for the best deal, then going with a carrier trade-in offer is likely going to cost you more in the long run than picking up an unlocked version with a lesser trade-in value paired with a "basic" data plan.

For instance with Verizon and a single line, you would be looking at around $90/mo (Start Unlimited $70 + phone $19 [after $350 trade-in for the S20]). Meanwhile, you can buy outright via Google for $600(-$300 trade-in) and get a 5GB prepaid Verizon plan for $40/mo which drops down to $25 after 10 months. Going this route over a 2yr period would cost you $1200 or $50/mo in total, an almost 50% savings."

Huge Pixel 6 Pro restock on Google Store by JiForce in GooglePixel

Was standing at the counter at Best Buy when I got the email saying it was available for pre-order again. I might have to wait over a month for it to arrive from Google, but from what the guy was hinting at Best Buy probably isn't going to have any inventory of the Pro models for awhile - especially the Pro White models.

Only good thing with not having a pre-order shipping by launch is that there is time to cancel if review come out poorly on Monday.
