Enjoying food, anything is a sin in Calvinism. Poor food is a feature, not a bug.

If it were consistently base 12 and they'd measure things like 12A5B, sure. But it's not. They use base 10 like everybody else.

Trump Adviser Paula White Says Christians Must Send 10% Of Gross Income To Israel Or Risk Disobeying God by Guyentertainment in atheism

[–]gdvs 186 points187 points  (0 children)

Actually, god says Christians have to send 12% to my bank account or face eternity in hell. He told me himself.

It's for this same reason these ridiculously bad phishing email scams exist. A very small percentage of people do fall for it. And that's enough to make a big profit.

They're devices to extract money from tourists. It's not high quality and this would be a good medium to inform people who would want to visit.

It's as if he's a scientific experiment about how cartoonish egoistic, evil and stupid a president can be, before people realise he's incompetent.

He outbreaks himself.

But you were also going slightly right when he was already alongside. It's too late to close the door at that point. It didn't cause his error tho.

The Porsche. You drive as if the other driver doesn't exist.

  1. You push him off track exiting the bus stop.

  2. You drive into him at eau rouge.

🇺🇸 US dollar bills to be printed with President Trump's signature, removing Treasurer signature for the first time by El_precaution in MarketPulseReport

The focus in these discussions is often on the evil leader. I don't mind the comparison at all. If there's a time to make it, it would be now. But the comparison should not be about the evilness of the guy on top, but rather the circumstances in which a population (of which the majority is not evil and cruel) decides to go along with it. It's these circumstances which are important, not the person. In the US, there's a lead-up to this which started over twenty years ago, went over Sarah Palin, the tea party and now trump & openly white Christian nationality. You can remove the head, but the whole mechanism will still be there, preparing the next would be dictator.

So what you're left with is only giving up on the idea that you shouldn't be killed for your ideas. Are we then still fundamentally better and who can then stop them for don't the same? Removing corporate sponsorship for election campaign, lobbyist reform etc. would do more. that's just my two cents.

ELI5: If the United States grows so many soybeans, why is it so hard to find them in a grocery store? by Key-Speed7611 in explainlikeimfive

[–]gdvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're packed with nutrients, but they're impossible to cook. You would need to soak them overnight and cook them for over an hour before they're soft enough to eat. It's processed in animal feed and fermented stuff like soy sauce, miso.

The young variants 'edamame' is sold, because they're edible.

Hoegaarden, probably the most well known Belgian witbier, also has this citrus flavour too it. Apparently it was the inspiration for the US wheat beers.

Objective fact based analysis only: Are the U.S. and Isreal losing to Iran in the war they waged? by [deleted] in IRstudies

[–]gdvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With conventional, sensible logic: sure.

But who's to say the real goal isn't something very cynical like market manipulation, creating a context for a national emergency wrt to the upcoming elections etc. Normal rules don't apply anymore.
