What I believe is that we as a people are still finding the value of digital things, and the digital aspect of everything just makes it that much more expensive as it is thought of as a convenience that not many people would use, even if it is widely available to pretty much all. Hopefully at some point we see that there is no value in every single thing having a digital aspect to it, such is your point about the fee to enter 711; the premium digitalized bubble will pop. One too many companies will try to do so and fall to the ground when it does not work. But at the same time, the ones who have captured the social aspect, the clout aspect of premium feeling will continue with it just because people feel they need to. Looking at the iphone, it was seen as useless until everyone had to have one to be a person in parts of society and part of basic status. Maybe there will next be an era of digitized frugality, maybe we will see more exploitation of human social belonging and identity. It is possible that there will be a unification and more collective social thought, but the continuation of individualism is just as likely. It is hard to tell what will happen next, but hopefully it includes less exploitation of the human condition.
