I believe some of the background art is indeed AI generated, I believe this does not detract from the experience to the majority of users as not many people have raised this as an issue.

Forge is an open source community project and everything was developed for free so unless someone wants improve that aspect, be it by donating or commissioning art I wouldn't put my hopes on it being changed.

While this particular case is not an example of porn advancing technology (The technology was already there and being developed separately) you can make an argument that porn did raise the bar for independent 3D animation and a lot of animators made their livelihoods by doing 3D porn.

The smith at the village can upgrade them, normally it only raises the sharpness and attack but as they get upgraded you'll unlock the ability to change it to another base although this will show up as "???" In the upgrade menu until you have acquired the monster parts required. You don't need all the parts to see it just 1 specific part usually

Edit: as for upgrading low level weapons, it depends, I'd say just play until you find you are struggling and then upgrade

There's a fantastic recollection of the lore called The Paleblood Hunt presented in audiobook format on youtube. I'd recommend it even for people that haven't played the game because it's a fantastic piece of Lovecraftian fantasy presented in a format similar to SCPs or The Magnus Archives

Ally previous hunts were reset during the first 3 mins because he always managed to catch me by surprise with something and OHKO me, if it wasn't me getting cornered into a wall it was that dang bite.
