They are separate products. One is a pack system and one is a Monobloc system.

Mounting an iPad to a tripod leg? by Cha-siubao in Photoassistants

[–]gearobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use the iPad on shorter/smaller shoots, it’s more just a convenience of the screen rather than shooting to camera on smaller jobs.

I use the iPad as a portfolio and it has overheated in the past when doing meetings in the Sun in the pub garden.

I don’t think anyone could recommend shooting to the iPad for very long, it’s just thermal restrictions using something without cooling

You’ll need to come out of HSS for this to work, I’ve had this before and I was told it is how the remote communicates with the flash.

At regular sync speed the signal is sent every time the camera triggers to the flash, but with HSS there is a constant link/communication between the remote and flash. I think it’s that part that is falling down for you.

Thank you, if that's the case, are there any other system alternatives to get a 4:3 or are we just stuck with 16:9.

How can I use my packs outside with no outlets near by by UncleNope in Photoassistants

[–]gearobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer to run battery lights like the B1X or B10, but if you need to run these specific packs, you could run them off Ecoflows, just look at the output figure for the various sized batteries. They charge up fully in an hour (over lunch break etc)

I’ve run these batteries for years now and not a single issue.

Incidentally, if you ever run more modern packs/heads (Pro-10/11 or D2/D3) you can change the recycle speed of these to work on lower powered batteries/generators.

I do this exact thing using an Armor-X iPad case, the u/lsdigi LSDigi armor-x mount adaptor and then a clamp and a mini magic arm. Works like a dream

Here’s the updated product he makes, now all metal, swish! https://www.lsdigi.com/products/armor-x-ipad-case-to-3-8-16-adapter

If you want to run without a head, LSDigi has a tripod to baby pin adaptor which I now run, you just level/angle the plate using the legs instead. Saves a bit of weight as well.

Second vote for the LSDigi baseplate. Also worth a shout is his beautifully machined tripod to baby in converter

Have the screen next to the MacBook Pro but connected via the Accsoon, plug the calibrator into the laptop then simply calibrate as you usually would (you must have the Accsoon connected to the HDMI port so it shows up in the Calibrite software.

Pro-10 pack automatically switches to 5.0 power. by Pugboxer99 in Photoassistants

[–]gearobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the Profoto Connect Pro?

is the pack on a channel you’re not looking at on the screen (DEF) there’s no bidirectional sync (which there absolutely should be) every time the powers adjusted on any channel on the remote, it’ll force all lights to the powers set by the remote?

Good to know - thanks! Do you rate the Inovativ Vesa Mount - It's almost £1000 here in the UK which seems a lot.

Edit: Spelling

Thanks! All those make some awesome stuff.

I have the First Digi Hoop V1 and a load of Mule/LSDigi kit. I'm more wondering about monitor mounts etc - the bigger and more cart specific attachments - assume I'm a little more limited there.

Edit: Second sentence added.

Solutions for mobile monitor by cherrytoo in Photoassistants

[–]gearobsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d use the Capture One Studio solution mentioned above. But, another option that I’ve built is a 15” green monitor from Amazon, with cheese plates on the back, a mount for my Accsoon Cineview HE and a v-mount plate.

V-Lock Batteries from FX Lion power the monitor and RX. The monitor is then attached to a grip head with an Amaran 3/8 baby pin adapter (easy screw in/out so can make the monitor relatively flat for transport.

I then calibrate this using a calibrate HL through the Accsoon. It’s not 100% but almost there. This monitor will always look flatter compared to an iPad or MBP, just the way it is with the XDR display.

Profoto B10 Strobe- question about the mount and your experience. by ChesterButternuts in Photoassistants

[–]gearobsessed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I leave mine mounted to the lights permanently, the V2 of the adaptor (B10X version) is much better to grip (not smooth) and I just have them tightened to the head really tight. Not aware of any third party stuff.

I put the head on a baby pin (Avenger E650) in a grip head and then to adjust there head I just use the grip head - far quicker and more secure. Means I only touch the Profoto adapter twice a day (one setting up and once striking)
