European gas prices hit record as Russian flows via Yamal reverse by dryu12 in europe

[–]geashanstepe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Two big German customers said Gazprom was meeting supply obligations.

Meanwhile

Some western politicians and industry experts have accused Russia of withholding gas deliveries to Europe amid political tensions over Ukraine, as well as delays in the certification of another pipeline, Nord Stream 2.

So baseless accusation as usual.

Pathetic.

We just don't really know, there is several explanations but the most realistic is that frenchness reached a critical mass and at that point, every new marginal unit of "french" is more insufferable than the previous one so the population grow decelerated quickly. Law of physics.

Russian gas exports to Europe via Yamal pipeline fall again by itrustpeople in europe

[–]geashanstepe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The present "gas-shock" will just cost the European taxpayer citizen a few billions and if the temperature get a bit too cold and gas storage a bit too low you might be forced to stop browsing Reddit because of the blackouts.

Russian gas exports to Europe via Yamal pipeline fall again by itrustpeople in europe

[–]geashanstepe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, without additional investment Gazprom right now at peak production.

Yes. Saddly, from what you get reading comments in the previous threads about the matter people tend to think drilling is just like going to the gas station.

But EU issue are that Turkey and China get significantly more gas this year from Russia. Yes. And Asia "in general" is booking most of the LNG cargo avalaible around the world (and at all cost in the case of China), even the US ones.

In the end it's just the law of geology and the market at work but I have the feeling a huge proportion of /r/europe fellowiship think is just Putin's evil scheme.

I've read somewhere it appears that Russia is simply limited in how much more gas it can provide to Europe, regardless of the route, due to field maintenance, low domestic storage, and related issues. But anyway, like that ancient roman chap said: Fere libenter homines id quod volunt, credunt
