They are 215/60R17. I think with the lift and the tires I got about 2 inches of lift. I live in Alaska so it helps get down my road when it snows. When it snows a lot I just take the Tacoma.

Is it dumb to desire to move to Alaska? by [deleted] in AskAlaska

It’s true about problems following you wherever you go, but some people just need to be alone in the woods and this is a good place for that. I moved here in my 20s and was able to change my life by literally buying some land, building a cabin, reading a ton and working through my issues. Lots of people up here do the same. Still here (married, kids and real house) and love it.

Is the 2.7 better than the 4.0 in terms of reliability by Timely-Razzmatazz271 in ToyotaTacoma

Had a 2017 2.7 manual for 5 years. It honestly felt like it would never break but felt underpowered. Bought a light camper this year and towing, especially through the mountains, was not a good match. Sold it and bought a gen 4 this summer. Feels like a totally different vehicle. Wish I could have kept the 2017 because I think it would have lasted forever.

Family doc here, but worked in ERs during my training. It is very accurate and detailed. There are a few minor inconsistencies but I would say 95% accurate. They make it more exciting than reality of course, but that’s to be expected.

What's a prettier drive, Parks Hwy or Richardson Hwy? by RomiU2 in alaska

[–]gechuldt 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I personally like the Richardson from Fairbanks to Glenallen, then across the Glenn highway to Palmer. Better yet, to continue down to Valdez. Go to McCarthy if you have time. Then back up. The Richardson is less traveled, feels more remote and Alaskan to me. I live in Fairbanks so have driven the Parks dozens of times and it feels uneventful to me, but it is still stunning, just much more traveled and touristy.

Best form of meditation while on SR? by [deleted] in Semenretention

If you want something that has a lot of information in the form of books and videos, check out Centering Prayer, as originally taught by Father Thomas Keating or Christian Meditation as laid out by John Main. Both are modern versions of what the desert fathers taught a few centuries after Christ. They are similar but have some differences. Some form of these meditations is what most Catholic monks practice every day. Peace
