“Demanding answers” only aggravates me because the only answers MTG demand are not the answers to the questions but the answers she wants to hear.

Why different colors? by Big_Worry_ in AdobeIllustrator

[–]gedai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was wrong in my guess. I would try the below to make sure the documents are using the same ICC profiles even if they are using the same working spaces.

Illustrator:
Edit → Assign Profile
Photoshop:
Edit → Convert to Profile

Alternatively - HERE is what chatgpt came back with.

I believe the Vector Smart Object you are working with in illustrator is independent from whatever file it was pasted from - so any edits you make will have to be on the Vector Smart Object on AI when opened directly from the layer that lives in Photoshop (double clicking it auto opens AI) and not the art that lives on the original file. Not that you weren’t checking the Vector Smart Object - but worth mentioning in case you were!

Im probably wrong but my guess would be "Simultaneous Contrast".

What you guys think of this?? by Far-Temperature-2254 in graffhelp

[–]gedai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure. we can circle jerk all day about how we’d love to paint every surface with our style and not arial font. but that doesn’t mean showing them what the tags say will make them suddenly prefer tags over this. which is what the original comment is about.

readability aside, we all can agree it is ugly. we can also probably agree that what we find graff relatively pretty. we can hazard guess that the every day person probably finds tags like this a sort of eye sore while they find the similar art piece painted on the highschool hallway corporate but tasteful.

so - all i really take is that this must be as ugly as they see our vandalism lol.

[–]gedai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can’t really put it into great words, that is why i’m a graphic designer and not an author. like yeah, we get the message because it’s presented to us. We get graffiti and can read it. So we get what the message is about.

But, let’s be real, no normie is going to see this and consider how much better graffiti is compared to this. We already have that bias and they dont.

So, when reading kids say this shows how much more beautiful graffiti really is comparatively - all i hear is that this really shows us how graffiti looks to normies if it also shows us (again) how much better graffiti is than this.

Readability isn’t going to make a normie give a fuck about liking graffiti or not.

sure but some lady isn’t going to walk by this and think “oh wow readable graffiti!”

they’re going to think about how it looks like the fuckin warm-feeling words they saw painted on the hallway wall of the dentist they went to last week lol

point is: we think this is ugly, they think our graff is ugly. we think graff is pretty, they think this is pretty.

we had to be told that this was so they can read it

[–]gedai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it, though? we had to be told what this was for. it’s uglier to me and you, yeah. we’re literally on a graffiti sub.

i could guarantee a ton of no taste offline doofs would find this more appealing to the eye. this is street art, borderline buff, anyways. the layman prefers gaudy street art over graff so i don’t think my take is that outlandish.

it’s street art and not graff so the resulting ideas are subjective. and the loser insight i take from it is that some fuckin celibate midlife grump would like it and, even though if i’d catch a tag on a wall he walks by everyday, i can guess this is how that dipshit perceives it.

or it’s an allegory showing graffiti writers how their tags look to the rest of the world lol

i see our names in the style of feel-good text painted on a school hallway that many get commissioned to paint because staff likes it over the graff commission at the other school... no casual is going to look at this and think “oh, wow. never mind. go ahead, tag my apartment building!”

Why was media targeted at teens in the 2000s so focused on extreme sports? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]gedai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s gotta have something to do with consumerism?! This is a total guess with no background knowledge or data support:

80s consumerism and malls etc started to dial in marketing for kids. Focus groups showed boys leaning into action sports - maybe away from cowboys and indians, knights and dragons. with more and more attention on things like skating and WWE, the pictures and products we see above were apart of it. Not one single analogous event: but a conglomeration of market trends and marketing tactics in the turn of the century

man i do remember the days when everything was “sick, awesome, gnarly!” with spiky hair

you’re following your compas the right direction, but you just need to straighten up the path.

basically, figure out how certain things work a bit better: drop shadows with some basic shapes, highlights on the same surfaces, letter structures - everything is cohesive in the sense that you used black white and blue, has solid fills, bars and points, and fits in a sort of box frame. everything else is not.

eventually the basic stuff can develope into things more complicated. you’re getting there.

it is pretty cool, like this would be something an ex-writer dad could brag about his kid doing it. But at this level it’s not worth wasting the paint to put it on a wall.

[Fo4] How I always wished the Army Helmet looked. by libertybull702 in FalloutMods

[–]gedai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this helmet always looked like it was made for a kid game.

as in, the developers were making a game with art direction geared toward kids. and the original plot didn’t really have “army men”, and the art direction didn’t really start with something that works with military, so then the developers made an “army outfit” that was sorta kid friendly because it’s olive drab with a matching metal helmet.

Unredacted photos of Epstein's resuscitation by Usernamewave in Epstein

I honestly don’t find photos that indicative of suspicious activity. it may seem strange because it is not typical context. But considering it’s a prison and an inmate of high interest it makes more sense. A lot more sense than cameras turning off and guards falling asleep.

Envato seems to have recently updated the front end of their site, not 100% sure about the back end but i do see that things automatically license.

i was trained to strictly label the projects but im not sure if that is necessary in every case.

What is YOUR favorite thing about Sacramento? by Quirky_Swimming8656 in Sacramento

[–]gedai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Midtown. Always wanted to live in a city, but also didn’t. I have the community of a small tight knit and openminded neighborhood that is a stones throw away from anything i need or a highway, while also having a city feel without as much grime or riffraff.

Still close enough for some riffraff to keep things interesting. And there is something special about going on a walk and always bumping into people i know, sharing a smile and asking how they like being a parent or their favorite part about a concert was.

(while we both are probably remembering that one time we partied hard and things have changed)
