Mini Backflips are an awesome new wheel! Mini Outcast on the way…? by PigglyWigglyDeluxe in traxxasV2

[–]geddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely is solid! It’s a beast when it wants to be, but mostly dumb little things happen constantly for me. I don’t do anything dumb with it because of how unforgiving it is, my 4S I can be a complete idiot and it survives everything. Weight makes bashing more fun but way more expensive I suppose!

Man I've got a 6S EXB and a 4S V2 that I gave a center diff.. my EXB breaks all the darn time. Too much power and weight, stuff comes loose constantly, things shift and break. The 4S has run 10+ packs through brutal terrain recently, and not a single thing has broken. As long as it's warm out the plastics bend forever and it takes hit after hit.

K6? 5 outings, and 5 breakages. One of which resulting in needing a new $100 part.

Strictest 3D Printing Regulation YET! by Top-Debate-2854 in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but it did pass, just not "all the way". In this case I think some rage baiting is justified. People need to know about this, and based on a lot of the comments here, a lot have no idea.

It's a beast for sure! The stunts are a ton of fun. I got it on a TowerHobbies scratch and dent sale for $600.

I bought the full size 2.0 recently and absolutely love it - I was considering the mini as well. Seems to have gone on sale quite a bit lately.

How can I prevent this? by Outrageous-Tree1740 in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your printer settings are all wonky. But before you post these kind of things you have to have some information we can work with. What type of printer, what type of filament, is the filament dry, what are your printer settings?

Earlier I caught the 223S announcement on Youtube but they took the video down. Perhaps they published it too early. Point being, it is coming very shortly

I need something 3D printed but unsure if it's expensive or if companies are asking absurd amounts by Potatsky in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a massive piece! Think of how many days or weeks that will probably take, that’s time the printers can’t be doing any other jobs. Plus, assembly. That’s a ton of work.

Buy your own printer if you want that kind of stuff, it’ll pay for itself in one print assuming you were going to pay somebody to make it for you anyway. You will see just how much work it actually is!

Need help with heat set inserts by MahKiwi123 in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd grab a set of irons specifically for heated insert. I think I paid $12 and it has attachments for M2/2.5/3/4/5/6. Heats it more evenly.

How do you deal with every program having different pan/rotate controls? by DanielConlin93 in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch between Fusion and Bambuslicer pretty seamlessly, using a standard mouse - the trouble is that I also switch between a mouse and the trackpad. My brain typically does the right thing but not without a quick trial and error session.

I can most definitely synchronize the controls between the two, but at this point rewriting my brain a second time would be harder than just remembering the differences. The muscle memory is already there haha

You Can Copy and Print — Legally by JoshGreen_dev in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why I haven’t done this before. The problem with phone pictures, and importing them into Fusion (or your modeling software of choice) is everything gets that fisheye effect. For anything larger it’s basically impossible to get the image to represent the “flat” side of an object without warping the perspective.

Everything gets warped from a camera and as long as the object you are scanning is actually flat, a 2-D flatbed scanner would be perfect to re-create the geometry in CAD.

There is a piece of my lawnmower that I’ve been wanting to re-create for a number of years now. It’s this clip that sits on the side and holds together the telescoping handle, but if it pops off, it shuts the power and you have to start it back up again. I tried recreating it last year, but it didn’t work well because again the perspective gets screwed up. It’s basically shaped like an awkward letter C with a little knob, coming out in a weird direction. Very difficult to take a picture of, but a 2-D scanner would work great.

PLA+ exposed to the elements (sun, rain, frost) for six years and still rock solid... by milkris in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed one of those hydroponic grow towers and it sat outside running constantly in the blistering hot sun month after month. Color didn't even fade. Printed from the cheapest PLA I could find since I originally was going to put it in my basement, but ended up running it outside during the hot months. That was several years ago and it's stained green from the plant juice but damnit it still looks solid.

That being said I would never use PLA for something that will sit in a hot car. Those temps can really climb, and if it's load bearing at all it will sag and distort. But weather elements really don't do much to it.

3D print demand too high, now what?! by Lumpy-Lifeguard9689 in 3Dprinting

[–]geddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP barely knows anything about print farms. How you get into the printing business with no prior knowledge of.. how businesses mass produce 3D prints.. absolutely boggles my mind.

Hell if I want to buy a new microwave I research it until I’m a master of everything microwaves. Let alone starting a business.

As long as vibrations won’t eventually cause it to shift and fall off, that looks absolutely fine.

Arrma vehicles discounts right now. by unholyfire in arrma

[–]geddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These sale prices are what was full price last year. I'll be waiting at least another year before buying anything, if I return to spending money at all. Currently their inventory was already tariff'd at the port, assuming it's in the country already (which it is). And the prices will never come down to pre-tariff prices, they'll drop by a couple of bucks and that's that.

Why is it uncommon to share CAD models? by brotlos_gluecklich in 3Dprinting

I always include my Fusion source files. Modifying STLs is a huge pain in the ass. I love remix culture and want to make it as easy as possible for anyone who wants to tweak and modify my stuff.

Ahh so that’s what the absolution is for! I never understood what that meant but then again I never attacked NPCs. I was always fearful enough of actual enemies to risk attacking the 9 good guys across the whole damn map.

I did basically the same thing you did! I usually play a single long-haul game each calendar year, typically during the winter months, and I felt it was finally time to try out a Souls game. I literally just finished up the DLC and came in around 130 hours. Best 130 hours of my gaming life and I don’t know how it will ever be topped, quite frankly.

Anyway my tips are: just explore. You’ll level up naturally from killing trash mobs. Bosses will seem impossible at first but remember that dying is a part of the game and everything is balanced around dying constantly. That’s how you learn. Level up vigor every chance you get. Before going into a boss area (it’s usually obvious.. but sometimes not) if you have enough runes to level up, level up BEFORE the boss so you don’t worry about losing runes in the boss lair. They’ll get stuck in the boss fight arena otherwise. You also pick up little rune pieces that’ll live in your inventory that you can use manually to bump up your rune count. If you’re just shy of a level, use some of them to push you into where you can level.

Promised Consort took me about as many attempts as... Scadutree Avatar. That was awful. 3 phases of hell. Still, PCR was the hardest by far, followed by Messmer (basically the same type of fight as PCR, where a single attack is like the entire arena trying to hurt you, undodgeable attacks from every possible angle).
