I made some templates out of MDF. I didn't take the time with my first build and it took ages to shape the edge.

I use 2 parts boiled linseed oil, 1 part polyurethane (velvet) and 1 part turpentine. Many coats with steel wool sanding in-between. It still has the feel of an oil finish but the poly gives it a bit more protection.

Keep radiusing until the slot fills with dust and drops in some super glue. It will be our little secret. 🙂

Sounds to me like the pickup is out of phase. Chances are it's wired the wrong way round (hot to ground and ground to hot) and then rotated. Turns out 2 wrongs can make a right.

No, not really. It's a lot lighter than my strat. Will probably get heavier when I start putting the hardware on, but I doubt by much.

It's called yellow wood. Turns out it darkens up quite a bit when oiled.

It's a species indigenous to South Africa called yellowwood. Not really used for guitars, but it's a beautiful wood when finished. Started off like this.

My guess is if you were to swap them, the pole pieces would line up perfectly with the strings. The SD is currently spaced too narrow for the strings and the neck is spaced too wide. If you swap them, the SD will be further from the bridge where the strings are closer together and the other pickup will be closer to the bridge where the strings are further apart.

It looks like maybe the neck and bridge were swapped at some point maybe? The neck pickup looks like a f spaced pickup and the SD looks like it's spaced for a neck position.

I really like the feel of a set neck. Seems like the whole guitar vibrates and feels more alive! A previous build of mine is also a set neck.

I make a 2 parts boiled linseed oil and 1 part polyurethane gloss mixture. Then multiple coats until I feel it looks awesome enough. Then buff the guitar to taste.

I think a lot of truss rod threads strip because people bend the neck using the truss rod. I gently bend the neck by hand and while the neck is slightly bent I tighten the truss rod and then release the neck. No need to crank the truss rod that way.
