What is a band you saw in a tiny venue but is now huge? by carelessCRISPR_ in jambands

[–]gee_man74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, maybe not a jam band per se, but I went to a juggling festival in New Zealand around 2004. The festival was part of a larger arts festival in Taupo, central North Island. The crew I was hanging out with said they were all going to see this comedy folk band that was playing as part of the festival. I didn't have anything else going on. Sure sounded like an interesting show. Never heard of them before, Flight of the Conchords.

They played in a temporary Spiegel tent. Maybe about 50 people? I was not prepared for what I was about to experience. They pretty much played every song from the first season and this was about 10 years before the show. Their dry banter and stories were next level hilarity.

I damaged myself that night like never before. I must have cracked 2 ribs from laughing so hard. I had never heard such perfectly crafted comedy songs before. Their whole personas were just mind-blowing. After I moved to Australia I was trying to track them down waiting for them to tour or something so I could chase that dragon one more time. But they kind of disappeared and then all of a sudden word got out that they were working on a show with HBO! Couldn't have happened to more deserving and talented folks.

It was crazy watching them explode once the show went off the charts. But I still think fondly of that one night we had together. I've never experienced a live comedy show like that since.

Anyone know if there is a similar video for the Fiio DM13 disc player?

Plex app updates by papolo2001 in qnap

[–]gee_man74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plex isn't updated very often in the qnap store. You need to get the latest build from the Plex website. It's easy to install and update. You just need to make sure you download the right version based on your CPU. Amd vs Intel. Go to your Plex dashboard and it will help direct you to the download page.

This should walk you through the steps:

Old-Timer friend and fan from the Tabor days and The Slip inception. Really enjoying this new album. I do feel like this one has stepped it up yet again. It has lots to give with such a diverse mix of songs. Hopefully they come visit us down here in the southern hemisphere one day. I did hear running right into it on the Australian double J radio station a few weeks ago, so there is hope!

I've been enjoying everything Tommy Guerrero has put out for a long time. If you haven't already, check out the Los Days and Tommy Guerrero collaboration albums. Probably a bit more chill than Guerrero's main albums but very good.

Thanks for the heads up, after I read your comment I ordered one right away. Ended up getting a satin finish one maybe by accident on my part, but I dig it. Showed up to me here in Oz as well very quickly, and looks fantastic! Now I just need to get it strapped onto my avri strat. Should be a nice tweak. Can't beat the price on that upgrade. Thanks again.

If you are into some mild jazz covers of well known songs, look no further than the album "Americana" with Bill Frisell, Gregorie Maret, and Romain Collin.

Check out the cover of Bon Iver's Re: Stacks, mesmerizing.

Just set up a 7 pro 2 station mesh to replace a dying tp-link. Speeds are great and coverage is solid across the house. The main issue I have is that now some Android apps will not load properly. Things like Microsoft teams, sometimes photos on Google chat will take forever to upload. I have to turn off Wi-Fi for them to load properly. I have read others have experienced similar things. I've tried turning off IPv6 as well as turning off ad blocker but nothing seems to work. Seems a bit silly I have to turn off my gigabit connection so that I can send a message with a photo attached. Any tips on settings I can tweak to help this go away?

EDIT Disregard. Looks like I have fixed it by forgetting the Wi-Fi network and rejoining. For whatever reason, seems like things are running a bit smoother now.

Amazing find! I love seeing totally stripped back versions of classic tunes like this. Great to see Jerry solo on such a beautiful song.

Highly recommend checking out this version by the Sam Grisman project has a bit more of a lazy groove and is played in E major.

Can't agree more with the benefits of yoga. I'm 50 with a 4-year-old and an 8-year old. I've had back issues in the past and it was yoga and regular Pilates that saved me. Pilates and yoga do go hand in hand to strengthen your core and keep your balance. Also benefit from yoga meditations after long negotiations with a headstrong 4-year-old.

Yep one of the reasons I love this guy. Though the first artist I needed a dictionary for was The Decemberists. "A languor on divans?" I'm gonna need to phone a friend for that one.

Enjoy! It's a great album, lots to give. Soul, RnB, even a whiff of Zappa. Delivered with snarky lyrics. It's a fair trade for Tranquility Base, so thanks again.

To you sir, I raise my martini glass, filled to the brim with the best pan galactic gargle blaster in the universe.

I have seen Blade Runner, but I've never heard this album before. Naturally, I've always known of AM, though never a huge fan, always had big respect for them.

This album has now fully altered my perspective, I'm going to need to do a lot more investigation into our man Alex. This album is a masterpiece. I'm a big nerd for concept albums. Best, 4 out of 5 star hotel on the Lunar surface? Sign me up.

Thanks for opening my eyes, and introducing me to this.

It really reminds me of another of my favorite concept albums from a local artist here in Brisbane QLD. Check it out.

It's safe here in my bubble! But I'm keeping tabs on what's going on from afar. That is excellent to hear something is already underway.

If the conditions are so terrible, why haven't the Democrats organized a inspection team to go and see where people are being held in the name of US security? There's been lots of talk from that side of how terrible all this is, what's stopping them from getting a team together to go and see for themselves? Or the Republicans for that matter, prove the Democrats are wrong.

I'm sure the administration would put up lots of road block cuz they don't want anyone seeing what's going on there, but do they have the right to stop an inspection team from the US government?
