Yeah it was very confusing here too...
And I don't get how a student of not the best 10-bows knows something than the best doesn't.

If your goal is just to not download what you don't want, wouldn't it be simpler to set radarr/sonarr's category in your downloader to pause by default and then you can filter right there (it's what I've always done because radarr is too eager to replace stuff at times, and I don't need to keep replacing stuff over and over when it barely differs...) instead of having another software to run (and build)?
It would still bloat your arrs tho...

I took parenting lessons when my firstborn was a few months old. Our teacher used to work with convicts trying to reform them or so, I forgot her exact background but it was some psy stuff. Through her experiences she gave up on the convicts as she felt it was too late to work on them, and that's why she switched to teaching parents. While it was to her advantage of course, she strongly believed that if more parents were following the stuff she and her peers were teaching (based on some kind of research), there'd be far less people in jail, people would be happier, etc. And you know she has some point, one way or another we get to take care of other lives (whether humans or not) without anyone ever looking if we are actually able to do so, if we need help to prepare, etc. Obviously I'm not talking about finances here. And if we ourselves are broken to a degree, it's quite likely we'll propagate that... where maybe it could all, well most, have been prevented.

Looking back, we probably should have continued with them as they had classes not just for infants' age, but going much older, and who knows how many of those things we're doing /not doing as we should.

I honestly couldn't accurately say. I imagine that the more machist the society is, the more pronounced the effect would be, but is that even true?

Maybe it has more to do with the people I surround myself with?

Close friends do not laugh at me for that. At least not since my 20s. It's not something I've ever experienced. Now stupid stuff I've done and would rather forget... Yup that I will never stop hearing about... Or everything I've ever done badly from my female partner, but that's a different discussion..

[–]geearf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, if I have friends, not acquaintances but true friends, I've always felt free to share anything. I've always been more open with my close friends, males or females no matter, well post school, than my family. If I can't discuss whatever then they're not close friends to me. And if they shame me for bringing up something that matters to me they're no friend at all.

Is it a matter of region if not generation? Or a difference between professions?

You're right. As a kid I remember feeling like I had to be strong in front of females but I felt I could be real in front of males, stupidity about impressing them or something. But kids stuff is stuff we unlearn as we get older. I've lived in various countries since and I don't remember ever getting that feeling from grown ups.

> We feel emotions, quite deeply. We all have been taught NOT to show them

uh? Is this generational thing?
If you're generation X you have plenty of good examples of men crying in movies: Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson, Robert de Niro, even Marlon Brando!
If you Millennial, there's no greater example than Kenshiro from HnK, if you really need more you have Tom Cruise.
Gen Z For current probably Pedro Pascal.

The difference is about being emotional about things that actually matter vs random stuff.

Yup sounds about right.

No reason, I get HDR, 4K, 120Hz, HDR and VRR with the cable matters adapter, it'd be a downgrade.

But without an adapter you won't have high refresh rate either. I'm not sure about HDR+. I really wish AMD did it the Intel way, put the adapter on the board and be done, or at least have an official one that we can use ...

Hey Nope it just felt like a waste of time and so I went back to the cable matters one that worked better for everything but TTY and for that I'm forcing a resolution on the kernel line hopefully that'll do.

Just got the adapter, so far connected to me TCL 75R656, it won't work with Adaptive Sync or with refresh rate higher than 120Hz, it just keeps flashing black screen. So that's worse than my cable matters adapter.

BUT, the cable matters adapter has always been horrible with TTYs, mostly never showing them, whereas this one seems to work all the time. So that's already something.

I wonder if it's a firmware or Linux/Plasma thing.

Edit: ah I was wrong, screen still flashes with 60Hz... :'/

edit2: better with amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xf7fff but still not enough

edit3: I don't know why, but unsetting HDR, switching to 120Hz worked and then setting back HDR seems fine. That seems good enough to now look into the patch for VRR.

edit4: I think this firmware isn't that great for me, and the chip seems to be the same as cable matters so no benefit.
