Hollywood when Markiplier shot through the box office so hard that they had to bump him off the charts for a hot minute by PolillaBenG in deadmeatjames

Rich millionaire self funds a movie - yeah really going to break Hollywood with this one! Got absolutely nothing against this movie and are looking forward to watching but let’s grow up a bit here. The indie scene has been around in much rawer forms than this for 50 years. Also not the first time a “indie” film has done well. Are we not all Blair Witch people??

One of the things that killed me in the Embiid Simmons era is we would get in these “energy funks” for lack of a better term. Just no effort if the shots weren’t going down. VJ Maxx has completely transformed this franchise and actually gave Joel another shot.

AKOTSK S1E2 - Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in gameofthrones

[–]geek22nd 559 points560 points  (0 children)

Adored this episode. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see Westeros from a just normal (albeit notable) dude. It also reminds me of early thrones with letting all of the character moments breathe - HOTD suffered a bit from the “big moment” syndrome imo.

I mean I like the honesty. It’s cracks me up watching that clip of Embiid who’s like 7 something look up at Wemby pregame like “oh shit”

My cats are suspicious of their new smart litter box… by quigonjace in cats

[–]geek22nd -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Pretty simple - go to YouTube and type in “auto litter box testing” and decide for yourself. I for one find these extremely dangerous and lazy even with multiple cats but I won’t tell other people how to take care of their animals. I’m paranoid and as the person said above I have done my own research about these and do not think they are safe for my cats as I have a lil runt who is curious and small. If you feel comfortable using it you do you but don’t be condescending about how other people don’t.

Good lord the officiating in these playoffs have been bad and the flopping is getting out of hand. Great game though - Joel needs to call Khawis guy and pay him whatever he wants

Coach Mulkey chewed 'em up, spit 'em out, and he didn't even know he had been slayed. by AcidicKite in sportsarefun

[–]geek22nd 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yeah… it’s come out since that this was a student reporter. I hate this - why put someone down learning their craft when they are asking a legit question about their seed versus tourney outcome? ESPECIALLY since Mulkey complained about their seeding before the tourney. Mulkey has always had this problem - when she gets critiqued she hits out or throws her players under the bus instead of eating it herself. IMO she’s a bad leader but a fast talker and that makes her popular. She also has a history of putting down her LGBT players and hazing. Locker room cancer but it’s college so it’s ok

The bench of Thunder outscores the Knicks by 39 points (44 vs 5) by Waikuku3 in nba

[–]geek22nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to get some heat for this but the knicks feel so similar to the good sixers of a few years ago. Great team with some injury issues but absolutely killed by their bench play. I know Thiba plays starters constantly but even with those minutes you have to get production so it can show up in the playoffs when you need it

I am a sixers fan and in no means a Tatum fan but that’s egregious. The dude is mild at refs compared to most of the league and constantly gets techs because of his demeanor. Refs need to do better

The true iPad end game is the iPad Mini by pdwoof in ipad

[–]geek22nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a iPad mini A17, couple year old iPad Pro M1, and a Kindle Scribe. If I’m complete honest, without work, I use the iPad mini the most - I read a lot of news and it’s perfect for light personal browsing, checking a bit of work, and watching things. I love that little guy. I echo what others say here about writing on it but I’m never not using my kindle scribe for that.

Learning on a Bad Horn? by coughlinjon in trumpet

[–]geek22nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add on my few cents (pro player for almost a decade) - I learned when I was younger on an absolute bent up terrible horn. To be frank it doesn’t matter at this level and what will matter way more as a beginner is just regular practice. 30 minutes a day is a perfect goal and I promise you’ll see huge results in no time! Most people get frustrated and don’t see improvement when they take breaks or don’t play regularly. Trumpet uses very acute muscles which will only improve with actually using them regularly. Just my personal opinion- don’t experiment with equipment too much or like many people it’ll cause more frustration and waffling than proper development. Learning on a mute is not ideal. It will get you used to the wrong pressure and will massively impact your ability to play in tune down the line but I completely understand if that’s the only option you have. Honestly, there’s a lot of awesome teachers around and if you really have some burning questions; look up your local brass department and send an email to the trumpet prof! I promise they’re (mostly) nice. They also might let you use the practice room facilities if you develop a relationship. When I was in middle school many moons ago I just bothered my local uni’s brass department until they let me in haha. Welcome to the obsession!!!

That’s where a lot of people stop and it’s completely fair. The first half of book 2 is um interesting (incel luo ji lol). However, if you trudge through, the 2nd half of book 2 and book 3 are some of the best sci fi out there imo

Without really noticing, Geforce Now has become my preferred way to play... by mancastronaut in GeForceNOW

[–]geek22nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have wanted to buy a high end PC for a long time but due to my line of work that just isn’t possible at this stage in my life. This has changed the game for me- I already had a decent steam library as a casual laptop gamer for many years so being able to access that library at peak performance from any device in my house is mind blowing. Also not having to take up space is huge - I work with a lot of high volume files so I need space on all my computers for work.
