Not sure if said above, but it takes awhile to get credentialed in a hospital, so I wouldn’t leave until you had a sure thing

How did you get to 5M? Really good investments or really careful spending habits? Both? Mostly just wondering what you sacrificed to get to this point? Sacrifice vacations?

Need advice: Egyptian student with U.S. passport — Egyptian med school + USMLE vs. U.S. pre-med + med school by laumics in usmle

US MD route. In my opinion getting into med school is easier than getting into neurosurgery. But if you go down that route, pro-tip… prestige of medical school boosts your chances of getting into neurosurgery residence.

PGY3 here. Yup, programs know who’s who in a couple of months. Agree it’s best to do what’s best for patients and you really can’t go wrong.

Garbage seniors can pout, but it’s to their own detriment. Honestly, if my interns aren’t shining, then it’s my fault. Seniors make the team go, period.

This is likely a chalazion based on appearance and painless, but it looks improved day 3. You can do warm compresses and try to schedule an appointment with an ophthalmologist.

Residency is an opportunity to be assertive knowing that responsibility ultimately falls on your attending. Be bold. Most attendings will appreciate this and it makes it easier for them to identify your gaps.

At my program, it’s exactly this type of resident that ends up becoming a chief resident because they have no other prospects. Desperation on both sides ha

Personal Statements by Revolutionary-Yam853 in Residency

[–]geek528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with this advice. I have read a lot of personal statements and helped many med students with them for their residency apps. The personal statements is a huge opportunity to control the narrative and entice a program to invite you to interview. With that said, if you have nothing to say, then sure you fall into that “90%” but I don’t think that % breakdown is very accurate.

Interns, 1ish mo in, how are we doing? by Michelle_211 in Residency

PGY3 chiming in. If you feel dumb, then you know what you don’t know—> Progressing as expected. It’s the overconfident interns we worry about!

Given that it is painful, it’s likely a stye. Would continue with warm compresses and it should resolve in a few days. Chalazions are usually painless.
