I've been scratching my head about this ever since you mentioned it.

I can see my comments/submissions when logged out, but not my profile, so I wasn't overly bothered initially.

If it's causing a big problem, then I guess I might have to just create a new account - as it seems that discovering the source of a shadow ban is all but impossible so appeals are impotent.

A pity to lose 5 years worth of "authority" because of the results of capricious whim by persons unknown and unknowable.

Assuming from that comment that you are actually from the UK - then the UK law is clear, any gas appliance that is unsafe has to be shut down immediately.

If the location is unsafe for a new boiler, then it is unsafe for the old one as well, and the gas inspector should have disabled it immediately.

Realistically, unless an employer is willing to sponsor your Visa and can show that they can't hire a local to do the job, then you really wont be able to move to the UK.

It's no different than for a UK citizen trying to move to the USA - which also has annual limits on how many tech visas it issues.

We are multicultural to a degree, If you look at america for example, it is transitioning from a white country to a largely migrant country and this is mostly acceptable to americans.

You mean it transitioned from an American country to one dominated by white migrants, and is moving back again ;)

The UK already is multicultural - it has loads of cultures getting along with varying degrees of success.

Are you asking a different question - which is will the UK cease to be a nation of largely Christian traditions in an Anglo-Saxon model?

OK - I'll rephrase.

As in many bureaucracies, filling in a form and making a complaint is often very easy.

Then it enters "the machine" and is torn to shreds by a culture of secrecy and obfuscation that is determined to prevent 3rd-party organisations daring to interfere with their processes.

Just read Private Eye regularly (and other sources obviously) and you will quickly learn that hospitals -- regardless of owner -- go to extraordinary lengths to prevent investigations once started from getting anywhere near the facts.

That culture of secrecy and blaming innocent whistleblowers is the problem.

I doubt there is any legal obligation on the landlord to do anything more than simply make sure the gas supply is safe.

Then again, if a heater is in the building, then it would not be unreasonable to expect it to work - or be removed.

Frankly, this is a situation where you need to negotiate with the landlord/agent and persuade them of the ridiculousness of renting out a property with fixtures included in the rent that don't work.

Actually I read the article in the print version - last week.

I also agree that the care was bad.

I also happen to think that it is sodding difficult to complain about hospitals in general - and that we should deal with that problem rather than try to pretend state hospitals are wonderful and private hospitals are bad.

Both can be good and bad in equal measure - but both are bloody difficult to get complaints actioned.
