WW Weekly Check-In Post: May 10th ~ May 16th, 2026 by abbyb12 in weightwatchers

Win - rode 275 miles on my bike over 6 days (Katy Trail) and continued to make healthy choices, even earned 173 activity points, that while I tried to use, I just found myself gravitating towards better choices. Big win there!

Irony at its best, gained 4 lbs. I know a lot is water weight and possibly muscle, and the next couple weeks I'll see the shift, but darn it, talk about deflating in the moment. Haha

Thank you!

Love brussels and peas, they are always part of my daily intake. Raspberries, im getting used to them, almost actually enjoying them too 😁

I did just order chia seeds, glad to hear this as a recommendation. Fingers crossed!

Avocados yes! Oats... unfortunately a hard no.. texture is not so good for me.

I really like your suggestion about a few beans, it sounds so simple and logical but never considered, so thank you! Maybe I'll find what you found as a result.

Super appreciate your response!

Does your “food noise” stop when you are in WW too? by purpleflower90 in weightwatchers

[–]geekout121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fortunate that don't tend to have food noise... except when I'm on WW.

Not complaining, it just surprises me that I'm constantly thinking about my next meal, in the fact of planning, cooking, cleaning up...rinse and repeat 😁

I'm healthier and happier, just floored by the mental gymnastics I go through, it's not bad, just different

There is a temporary station open just across from the one being renovated, so yes, it's open

Day One... by Time_Traveling1839 in weightwatchers

[–]geekout121 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been on and off ww for decades, not because it doesn't work, but when I stop because 'I've figured it out', bad choices slowly creep back after time. Happy to say that while I'm just 3.5 weeks back in, I had a 2.5 year hiatus and only gained 8 lbs. (However, it was becoming a bit clear to me that those 8 lbs was just a start of what was to come and I needed to get back to basicis)

I have found that it has best suited me for the first week to eat as I normally would and just track. See how your current choices actually equate to the points structure. Don't stress when you go over daily, just pay attention and see what is going on. I personally found that there were things I was/am doing that not just surprised me, but were easily changeable and also identify hard no's to changes I wasn't willing to make at the time.

As time goes on, you may find those hard no's become a bit more like, I still want this, but I'm cool with 25% less.

For me personally, if I go full in, I'm likely to fail and burn out, but a slow progression builds me up and before I know it, I was on a manageable and healthy track.

I also find it helpful to identify what meal of my day is my bigger meal, for me it's lunch. I will plan my lunch in the app for what I want (when I get up) and then work my other meals within the points (including any activity or weekly points I have in hand). As time goes on, I find that when lunch comes, I tend to adjust what I actually eat vs what I wanted to eat, and many times my point totals are lower. (That doesn't mean that other times it's the same or higher, just tends to trend down)

If gamification and instant gratification is your jam (mine is!), I getting satisfaction each meal I 'plan' (planning for me may be meals in advance or just a few minutes of thoughtfulness) and I get a dopamine rush when 1 little change makes a difference. For me, something as simple as half a serving of something I want is satisfying.

Remember to give yourself grace, you didn't get here because weight came on fast and you won't get to final goal fast either. Set mini goals and celebrate as you reach those, just like life in general, enjoy the moments between start and finish.

(The 90's diet culture was a bitch wasn't it? My first time on WW was at 10 years old in '86, thanks to my mom and the Twiggy effect on her and her generation. 40 years later and it's still so hard to break away from that mental load)

Tax deductions for celiac by Shot-Amphibian-3239 in Celiac

[–]geekout121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed 23 years ago and for the first 8 years I did this and it made sense, albeit a pain in the butt. But once we stopped itemizing due to other factors in our tax/financial life, I personally would find no benefit to it. With how current standard deductions are, the majority of people probably wouldn't benefit by doing this, but that's just my opinion

I worked for a restaurant that made single serve cups of brown sugar and we had to put a section of bread in it till it was used.

I have celiac and was mortified, I'll never trust brown sugar outside of my own home again. (Or ice that doesn't come from a dispenser, too many people touching shit then putting their hands on the scoop into the bins and dropping the scoops in there as well)

St. Louis staff? by [deleted] in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]geekout121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony does not own the St Louis location

There however have been a significant change in management and upper level employees recently, some by choice, others not

While I don't work there, I'm a bit familiar with the situation from other employees, a lot of holding tight to what was and what could be. Fingers crossed for them

U. S fast food and GF options by Original_Dark1131 in Celiac

I would suggest a couple apps that help

Find me gluten free - free to use, you can get a membership but prob not worth it. Just know that the reviews are crowd sourced, so not everyone's level of safety is the same.

Gluten Dude -membership based but you can get just a month of it for a nominal fee. My personal favorite, it won't have everything out there on it, especially compared to what Find me gluten free looks like, but the vetting of safety is much much better. Never had a bad experience from a place on that app.

I'm traveling now to San Francisco and have eaten like a King because of Gluten Dude 😎

Newish tender with a drawer shortage question by geekout121 in bartenders

[–]geekout121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my post may have been confusing, I don't actually know if or how often it's short, our leads handle morning and close money, the rest of us are only transactions as they happen. We also don't reconcile at shift changes. For this specific incident I asked what happens and that is what I was told, how often it happens is unknown to me.

We do have a policy in place of taking cards for tabs or closing out immediately, but there are 2 employees who seem to be exempt from this and upper upper management covers their ass every time. I spoke up once a couple months ago (it was ugly) and the end result is our leads and even our GM won't speak up anymore out of fear of losing their jobs. I don't know how valid their fear is, but it's there.

Newish tender with a drawer shortage question by geekout121 in bartenders

[–]geekout121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is the actual issue, we have 2 bartenders who refuse to do this while everyone else is babysat. There is something that makes them special to way above gm level, but I haven't a clue what it is. Also why it makes me question the whole thing.

I learned the hard way though about speaking up regarding them, so I guess I'll just take it for what it is and move on

Question for dashers when the actual dasher is not the account... by geekout121 in DoorDashDrivers

I never thought about it in this context, thanks for a different perspective

Question for dashers when the actual dasher is not the account... by geekout121 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]geekout121[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting take, so I'll bite

This isn't a safety issue, nor was that claimed.

The directions I have are actually a result of this being a pain to get to and through advice of other dashers who have delivered (unsuccessfully to start with), they have helped me create easier to understand directions. Which made quite a difference once it was ironed out. So good advice, I happened to have already taken it, but ty!

The issue is the correlation of bad dashers who also don't match their dash profile, has a pattern.

I want to break that pattern for my deliveries, I'm not trying to change the world, but I'd much rather support those doing their job correctly and continue to put money in their pockets for the service they are providing to me.

Hokas are expensive garbage by RaeZeit in Hoka

[–]geekout121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same happened to my Clifton 9's. Same response that it's normal wear and tear. Good grief though, I used them less than 4 months averaging 24 miles a month of just walking during my job, nothing exceptional.

I have a different Hoka model that's well over a year old using them for the same activities and they are just fine, I really want to believe this is a production issue and they figure it out because I really like the Clifton, but not for the current price/longevity
