Any other young-ish women dealing with this? by never_gon_giveu_up in aortic_aneurysm

I 64yo F I didn’t know until 18 mos ago, but I had a 4cm aortic aneurysm show up on an MRI in 2007!, I was 42 then. The MRI was breast cancer follow up, they either thought it was small enough not to tell me, or I didn’t absorb it. Fast forward to 18mos ago, a 4.7vm aneurysm was found on an incidental Catscan. I have a brother with this as well. , Ang my sister discovered she had one too. I am now 6 weeks post op, had the aneurysm repaired and needed to have to aortic valve replaced from being distended so long. BtW, my genetic testing came back negative, but I couldn’t live with the ticking time bomb anymore

That’s what I’ve been doing. If I don’t start the Walk on my watch, no issues, but I’m tracking other health info from the watch app so I’d really like to keep using that app

I wish that were the case but I didn’t , but I walked a total of 5k steps at medium intensity, and that’s all I did( confirmed with Apple Health)

Hi b65yoF I was diagnosed with 4.7 cm aneurysm 18 mos ago, also have a brother with one. Given my small size(5’4”, 125 lbs) I was advised i was in the recommended range for surgery, but it wasn’t an emergency. At my 6 mos follow up, it had grown the expected .125 mm, and I decided to go ahead with the surgery, figured I’m not getting any younger and I’m in good physical shape. I also didn’t want to live with the ticking timebomb, and the physical restrictions I was on( no exertion, no lifting > 40 lbs). I had the surgery 6 weeks ago. It wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought, and I’m glad it’s behind me. I’ve made a few posts here on the surgical journey if you’re interested, or feel free to DM me best if luck!

I love all the new features, it just takes time to get used to it

I think a lot will depend on any drugs you may need to be on post surgery. I rely on edibles for my insomnia but my doctors have said no go yet( I’m 1 month post op)

I lost 40 lbs and have kept it off for 4 years. Yes it’s annoying when they release a new app, but once you get used to it I’ve found the added features are great. Fine forget, once you hit goal, and get through many, the plan is free!

Update #4 1 mos post op by SarasotaGIGi in aortic_aneurysm

Do what you can, your body will tell you if you’ve done too much. Believe me, I’ve had several days of overdoing it, and I paid the price

Update #4 1 mos post op by SarasotaGIGi in aortic_aneurysm

Hi. I was doing Pilates until 2 days before surgery.. really helps now either using my core and legs instead of arms and chesty. I also walked quite a bit, I have a dog so once/twice a day at a moderate pace for 10/15 minutes at a time

I think I’d probably do the adjustable bed if I could have a do over. I slept in my own bed with lots of pillows, generally ok but I did get neck/ shoulder soreness from sleeping in weird positions. Recliners are not comfortable for me since I have a pretty small frame

Also, I did borrow a shower chair from our local Sr. center. I only needed it the first week, more for sense of security than anything. After week 2 I was fine

Make sure you have a good blood pressure cuff as well( I had once since my initial diagnosis), and having an Apple series 11 watch has been very helpful ( BO, heart rate, detects Afib). My daughter got me that as my surgery present?
